Marshall County Sheriff’s Report December 12th, 2016

On Friday December 9th Deputy Chris Greenfield was dispatched to the area of US Hwy 68 W in reference to a possible intoxicated driver. Officer Robbie West from Calvert City Police Dept. had observed the vehicle while off duty nearly drive into a ditch and strike several vehicles.  Officer West followed the subject to his residence where he waited for Deputy Greenfield. The subject was asked to give the field sobriety test in which there were many indicators present for being under the influence. Alfred H. Capuano 42, of Gilbertsville, was arrested and charged with Operating Motor Vehicle Under the Influence and Operating on a Suspended or Revoked Operators License.

 

On Saturday December 10th Deputy Chris Greenfield was dispatched to Slaughter Road in reference to a man with a gun at a residence trying to get inside. Upon arrival Deputy Greenfield observed a male subject outside the garage with a female next to his truck. The male subject was then placed under arrest and asked where the gun was, in which he stated that it was in the truck. Upon checking the truck for the firearm, deputies located a methamphetamine pipe with residue in it. The firearm was located in the bed of the truck loaded with a round in the chamber. While deputies were searching for the firearm the male subject became belligerent yelling. Upon investigation the male subject had once lived there but had been evicted due to having problems in the past. Shawn M. Sparks 35, of Benton, was arrested and charged with Wanton Endangerment 1st, Possession of Controlled Substance 1st Degree (Methamphetamine), Disorderly Conduct 2nd Degree and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Also arrested was Buffey K. Silva 38, of Karnak, IL, the passenger charged with Possession of Controlled Substance 1st (Methamphetamine), Possession Drug Paraphernalia and Public Intoxication Controlled Substance. When arriving to the detention center with Sparks he became belligerent and resistive. While having to detain Sparks, Deputy Greenfield sustained a cut from the handcuffs and was threatened. Sparks then was additionally charged with Disorderly Conduct 2nd, Assault 3rd Degree Police Officer and Terroristic Threatening 3rd Degree.

 

On Saturday December 10th Deputy Josh Anderson observed a vehicle swerving from the center line to fog line on multiple occasions on the Purchase Parkway. Deputy Anderson conducted a traffic stop and immediately upon contact he observed a strong odor of alcohol coming from the vehicle. There was also a small child located in the back seat at the time. The subject had admitted to having a couple beers a couple hours prior to driving. The field sobriety test was given in which there were many indications of being under the influence. Jared L. Davis 36, of  Benton, was arrested and charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence, Wanton Endangerment 2nd Degree and Reckless Driving.

 

For the week of December 5th through December 12th the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office responded to the following:  22 Traffic Accidents, 6 Motorist Assists, 5 DUI’s, 3 Traffic Stops, 53 Extra Patrols, 3 Animal Complaints, 2 Assaults, 3 Burglary/Theft reports, 10 Disturbances, 5 Domestic Disturbances, 3 EPO’s, 4 Investigations, 25 Have a Deputy Call, 8 Prisoner Transports, 4 Suspicious Person, 4 Suspicious Vehicles, 12 Warrants Served, 21 Civils Served and 3 Welfare checks.
