On December 26, 2016 at approximately 8:14 pm, deputies observed a vehicle that was sent out in description to deputies to be on the lookout for. The driver was suspended, had multiple felony warrants and was driving a vehicle with a stolen license plate.
Upon observing the vehicle, the driver fled from deputies down Lone Oak Road, making a right on Charleston Avenue and eventually striking a tree, coming to a stop. The driver then fled on foot from deputies. Several deputies and Paducah Police Officers set up a quick parameter and held the driver to a specific location. While McCracken County K-9 and Paducah Police K-9 searched the area, the driver began to flee on foot again. The driver was ultimately taken into custody. He received minor injuries while running from deputies and officers and treated and released from Lourdes Hospital.
The vehicle was seized and held for investigation. The driver was ultimately known and identified as 33 year old Benjamin Holland of Gilbertsville. Holland was known and wanted on charges for methamphetamine and handgun possession by a convicted felon along with new charges for Bail Jumping. Deputies knew Holland to be a threat
to the community and knew that he needed to be located for his charges.
Three warrants were served on Holland for Bail Jumping 1st degree, warrants out of Marshall County for previous charges of traffic violations,fleeing and evading and drug charges and a warrant out of McCracken county for contempt of court.
New charges are as follows –
1) Fleeing and evading 1st degree (Motor Vehicle)
2) Fleeing and evading 2nd degree (on foot)
3) Criminal Mischief 1st degree
4) Reckless Driving
5) Disregarding a stop sign
6) Theft of Motor Vehicle registration plate
7) Poss of Marijuana
8) Operating on suspended license
9) No tail lights
