MAYFIELD, Ky. (July 5, 2022) – Kentucky State Police (KSP), Post 1 participated in Operation CARE (Collision Awareness and Reduction Efforts) over the July 4th holiday weekend. While the focus of Operation CARE was DUI enforcement, KSP is a full-service agency. As a full-service agency, troopers respond to emergency calls for service, investigate criminal complaints, enforce highway safety, and investigate collisions.
During the operational period of July 1, 2022 – July 4, 2022, KSP Post 1 dispatch fielded calls of 23 collisions. No fatal collisions were reported to KSP Post 1 during this operational period. Troopers conducted seven traffic safety checkpoints, resulting in seven citations and two DUI arrests. During the operational period, Troopers made three total DUI arrests, 37 criminal arrests, issued 58 speeding citations and 11 seatbelt/child restraint citations. Troopers also responded to 85 calls for service during this operational period, up from 64 calls for service during the same operational period last year.
