Five Arrested On Burglary, Drug, Stolen Property Investigation

Over the past approximate three weeks the McCracken County Sheriff’s Department has
been actively investigating a number of storage unit burglaries. The burglaries had
occurred at 2600 Perkins Creek and 4335 A.T. Massa Drive. A total of at least nine
different units were discovered burglarized between these two locations. Items taken
from the units ranged from furniture, appliances, tools, clothing, and collectables.

While working with the staff at these storage facilities, it was determined that a
Gray PT Cruiser was frequenting the storage facilities throughout the day and night,
and had been observed by staff acting suspicious. Between surveillance cameras and
staff observation detectives were able to identify the owner of the vehicle to be
Brandon York of Benton, Ky.

During a break-in at one of the Perkins Creek units, the victim reported a book of
checks taken from their unit. On 1/30/2017, an unidentified male cashed one of the
stolen checks at Wal-Mart in Benton.

On 2/1/17, detectives learned that another unit had been burglarized at the A.T.
Massa Drive location and recognized a truck that was used to load some of the stolen
items and were familiar with the owner of that vehicle. That individual was located
on the evening of 2/2/2017. They informed detectives that they had been ask to
assist two friends move some items out of what was described to be a relative’s
storage unit, adding a key was used to access the unit so they did not question the
request to be illegitimate.

The two main suspects were identified as being Brandon York and Darrell Dawson aka
“TK”. Detectives also positively identified the male cashing the stolen check at
Wal-Mart to be Dawson.

While searching the area, detectives located the PT Cruiser in question and
subsequently stopped the vehicle. It was found to be operated by Darrell Dawson. A
search of the vehicle revealed a handgun concealed under the driver’s seat, along
with a quantity of Methamphetamine, syringes, and items of suspected stolen
property.

On the evening of 2/2/2017, detectives obtained a search warrant for a residence
located at 1326 Jefferson Street in Paducah after the investigation revealed it
being the residence that both suspects were frequenting or living at. The search
warrant was executed at approximately 21:16.

A search of the residence revealed a large amount of what detectives believe to be
stolen property; many items have been positively identified as being stolen property
and previously reported by victims from these storage facilities. Further search
also revealed quantities of Methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.

Three individuals were arrested at the residence.

Brandon York was located at a Paducah restaurant and taken into custody without
incident.
