On February 10th at 11:42am, Detective Nathan Maxlow and Detective Sergeant Kevin Mighell were on Sharpe School Road when they observed a vehicle cross the center line. The Deputies performed a traffic stop and as a result of the ensuing investigation, the driver, Dustin L. Croley age 34 of Benton, was arrested and charged with DUI and Failure to Wear Seat belts. As a result of a young child being in the vehicle, Croley was also charged with Wanton Endangerment. Croley was lodged in the Marshall County Detention Center. The Detectives were assisted by Deputy William Strader
On February 10th at 8:53 pm, Deputy Chris Greenfield observed a vehicle on W 5th St weaving between the lines. Deputy Greenfield conducted a traffic stop and upon search he located a small bag of marijuana and a wooden “one hitter” case along with a metal pipe with residue. Deputy Greenfield placed Michelle N. Fondaw 31, of Calvert City, under arrest for Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence, Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and No Brake Lights.
On February 11th at 6:17 pm, Deputy Chris Greenfield was dispatched to Shop O Rama in reference to a disorderly customer with a small child who appeared to be under the influence. Upon arrival, Deputy Greenfield observed the described offender operating his vehicle waiting to pull out of the parking lot. Contact was made with the subject and Deputy Greenfield observed the small child in the passenger seat not in a proper restraining device. Upon investigation, Deputy Greenfield located an open bottle of whiskey next to the seat and an empty bottle of liquor in the back seat. There was also a bag in the back seat containing two marijuana roaches inside it. Christopher D. Duncan 33, of Murray, was arrested and charged with Operating Motor Vehicle Under the Influence, Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Possession of Open Alcoholic Container in Motor Vehicle and Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree.
On February 12th at 4:29 pm, Deputy Chris Greenfield was dispatched to the area of Starks Cemetery Road and Karen Faye Lane in reference to a suspicious vehicle. Upon arrival, Deputy Greenfield found the vehicle parked and the suspect stated he had ran out of gas. The suspect was behaving unusually and was very fidgety. Upon investigation there was a zip lock bag found in the center console containing syringes and a plastic container containing methamphetamine. A single Hydrocodone pill along with a bag with a syringe and a Q-tip were also located. Corey W. Reed 29, of Dexter, was arrested and charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence, Possession Controlled Substance 1st Deg (Methamphetamine), Possession Controlled Substance 1st Deg (Opiates), Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and No Registration Plates.
On February 12th at 9:33 pm, Deputy Josh Anderson was dispatched to Dogtown Road in reference to a disturbance. Upon arrival Deputy Anderson located the subject sitting in his vehicle in the driveway. The subject had previously been trespassed from this residence for a prior incident. Joshua D. Collins 38, of Benton, was arrested and charged with Criminal Trespassing 3rd Degree.
For the week of February 6th through February 13th the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office responded to the following: 12 Traffic Accidents, 26 Traffic Stops, 184 Extra Patrols, 2 DUI’s, 3 Motorist Assists, 2 Reckless Drivers, 9 Burglary/Theft reports, 8 Disturbances, 2 Domestic Disturbances, 2 EPO’s, 3 Alcohol Intoxication, 3 Drug, 20 Investigations, 31 Have a Deputy Call, 4 Suspicious Person, 11 Suspicious Vehicles, 35 Prisoner Transports, 23 Warrants Served, 38 Civils Served and 6 Welfare Checks contributing to a call volume of 500 calls responded to.
For the week of February 6th through February 13th the Marshall County Court Security attended 10 court sessions, 23 inmates moved to and from court, 2272 people checked into the building, 5 adult transports out of county, 5 juvenile transports out of county, 1 mental health transport, 1 transport out of state and 42 vehicle inspections.
