LYON COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE MEDIA RELEASE
⦁ On Friday, March 31st, 2023, around 10am, deputies received reports of a known scam which was affecting area residents. Specifically, cybercriminals are targeting Lyon County citizens via a fake McAfee antivirus email which looks legitimate. It notifies the citizen they have a virus on their computer and asks the citizen for permission to remotely access their computer for the ruse purpose of repairing the damage. However, this is simply an effort to steal private and sensitive information such as credit card details, banking information, dates of birth and social security numbers. ⦁ On Saturday, April 1st, 2023, around 11:51am, Chief Deputy Sam Adams responded to a two-vehicle collision in Kuttawa at the intersection of US 62 West and Days Inn Drive. The investigation revealed a 2008 Chevrolet Tahoe, driven by Jatorion L. Civils (20) of Madisonville was West bound on US 62 when a 2015 Ford F150 driven by Rhonda Abdulla (53) of Castle Pines, Colorado was in front of Civils and changed lanes abruptly causing Civils to take evasive action to avoid a collision. Instead of colliding with the Abdulla vehicle, Civils’ vehicle collided with a 2009 Ford F350 driven by Matthew Daniel (41) of Nashville, who was stopped at the traffic light on Days Inn Drive and waiting to turn left onto US 62 West. Two juvenile passengers in the Civils’ vehicle were transported to Baptist Health in Madisonville for injuries sustained in the collision. Chief Deputy Adams charged Civils with No Operator’s License, Failure to Provide Proof of Insurance, and Possession of Marijuana. Adams was assisted at the scene by Kuttawa Fire Department and Lyon County EMS.
⦁ On Wednesday, April 5, 2023, just before 11pm, Deputy Danny Collings arrested Nikole J. Hartmann (26) of Benton on a Marshall Circuit Court bench warrant for failure to appear in a felony drug case. Hartmann was arrested in the Five Star parking lot in Eddyville. She was lodged in the Marshall County Jail.
⦁ On Sunday, April 9, 2023, just after 2pm, Deputy Aaron O’Leary served a Lyon Circuit Court bench warrant on Dameon J. Meyeers (37) of Georgia, for a Probation Violation for Felony Offense after Meyeers was extradited by to the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Myers was previously convicted of multiple counts of Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument, Theft of Identity, and Possession of Marijuana. He was lodged in the Crittenden County Detention Center.
