Marshall County Sheriff’s Reports – May 2 – 9

sheriff-175x125On Saturday May 7th Deputy Nathan Maxlow observed a vehicle on US 62 weaving on the roadway and cross the centerline. Upon contact with the subject, Deputy Maxlow observed a strong odor of alcohol present. The field sobriety test was given and there were indicators present to be under the influence. Danny Hiel 53, of Gilbertsville, was arrested and charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence.

On Saturday May 7th Deputy Josh Anderson observed a vehicle on US 641 N near Catfish Kitchen swerving on the roadway. Upon contact with the subject, Deputy Anderson observed a strong odor of alcohol present along with a six pack of beer in plain sight with three missing. Deputy Anderson was given consent to search the subject and he located a baggie of marijuana in his pocket. Also found was a Hydrocodone tablet hidden in a cigarette package. The field sobriety test was given in which there were many indications of being under the influence. The subject admitted to drinking and smoking a joint earlier in the night. Devon G. Collins 21, of Benton, was arrested and charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence, Possession of Marijuana, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Careless Driving and Failure to Produce Insurance Card.

On Sunday May 8th Deputy Cory Curtner was dispatched to Thompson Circle in reference to a domestic disturbance. Upon contact with the subject dispatch confirmed there was an active warrant out of Calloway. Deputy Curtner spoke to victim who stated that Samuel Tucker 46, of Hardin, had struck her in the head and fled to the neighbors house. Tucker was placed under arrest for his active warrant and additionally charged with Assault 4th Degree Domestic Violence.

On Sunday May 8th Deputy William Strader was dispatched to Mayfield Hwy near Mullins Lane in reference to an ATV accident. Upon arrival Deputy Strader found the subject in the roadway with an ATV nearby. The subject was transported by Marshall County EMS to Marshall County ER to be treated for his injuries. Deputy Strader observed an open beer can still on the ATV. Deputy Strader went to the ER to interview the subject and he stated that he had consumed approximately 8 beers and that he could not remember the accident. Cory A. Downey 33, of Benton, was cited due to his injuries for Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence, Possession of Open Alcoholic Beverage in Motor Vehicle and Operating ATV on Roadway.

For the week of May 2nd through May 9th the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office responded to the following: 13 Traffic Accidents, 2 Animal Complaints, 11 Burglary/Theft reports, 6 Motorist Assists, 8 Disturbances, 9 Investigations, 5 Domestic Disturbances, 19 Warrants attempted, 70 Civils Attempted, 92 Requests for Extra Patrol, 33 Have a Deputy Call and 29 Traffic Stops contributing to 439 calls responded to.
