Kentucky State Police are investigating the death of an inmate at the Kentucky State Penitentiary in Eddyville.
KSP Post 1 dispatch received a call about 2:30 p.m. Tuesday in reference to an inmate not breathing. Lyon County Ambulance Service responded to the scene, and upon arrival asked to notify the coroner.
Lyon County Coroner Sheena Snow arrived to the penitentiary with a trooper and pronounced Marcus J. Penman, 39, of Hopkinsville, dead at the scene. KSP Trooper Cory Hamby is continuing the investigation.

KSP troopers responded to Trigg County in reference to human remains found on Oak Grove Church Road near Cadiz.
About 11:3o a.m. Tuesday, Trigg County dispatchers received a call from a nearby property owner who discovered the remains. Troopers interviewed the caller and searched surrounding properties. The remains were collected and sent to the Trigg County Coroner; the state medical examiner’s office will examine the remains to determine for certain if they are human.
Trigg County Sheriff’s Office, Trigg County Animal Control and Pulaski County (Ill.) Search and Rescue assisted at the scene. Det. Brian Hill is continuing the investigation.
