Weekend Arrest
On Sunday, May 26, 2024, at approximately 2:00 PM, deputies from the Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence just west of Mayfield for the report of possible stolen vehicle. It was determined that Jason Garber, 47 of Mayfield, had taken a vehicle without permission.
Deputy Ben Doran and Sgt. Richard Edwards took the information and began looking for the vehicle. A short time later, Garber was located operating the vehicle on Mitchell Drive. Deputy Doran attempted to stop the vehicle, which continued for a short distance and then pulled into a residence on Lakeshore Drive. Garber exited the vehicle and then fled on foot from deputies before a taser was deployed on Garber to effect an arrest. After the taser deployment, deputies were able to take Garber into custody after a brief struggle. It was determined that Garber had ingested methamphetamine earlier in the day before he was arrested.
Garber was later transported to the Graves County RC Center and he was later transferred to an out of county facility by Graves County Jail Staff.
Garber was charged with Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle 1st Offense, DUI 2nd Offense, Disorderly Conduct 2nd Degree, Fleeing or Evading Police in the 2nd Degree, Resisting Arrest as well as traffic offenses.
