During the evening on April 9, 2025, the McCracken County Sheriff’s Office was notified by Chief Deputy Jailer Stephen Carter that he had received information that a deputy jailer was having an inappropriate relationship with an inmate. Chief Deputy Carter asked the MCSO to investigate the allegations.
A detective with the MCSO immediately began interviewing inmates as well as the deputy jailer. The investigation determined that the deputy jailer was having inappropriate sexual contact with the female inmate and gave the inmate items that he was not allowed to give her.
Tyler Hamlet, 27 years old of Eddyville, KY, was arrested and charged with Sexual Abuse 1st Degree, Official Misconduct 2nd Degree, and Promoting Contraband 2nd Degree. He was lodged in the Marshall County Jail. A Picture of Hamlet may be obtained by contacting the Marshall County Jail.
