The Calloway County Sheriff’s Office received 911 calls concerning a violation of a Domestic Violence Order with an assault about 10:30 a.m. Monday. The female advised that the biological father had taken their 16-month-old child and a description was provided of the father, child and vehicle. The father had taken the mother’s cellphone in an attempt to keep her from calling authorities; he was allegedly armed with a knife and headed to the Saint Louis area.
The Calloway County Sheriff’s Office dispatched deputies to 372 Windsong Circle in Aurora. Adjacent counties and agencies were notified of a possible abduction and Amber alert protocol was initiated. Upon arrival of deputies to the scene, the father showed back up to the residence returning the child and surrendering himself.
Mathew J. Walsh, 34 of Murray was charged with the following charges:
- Assault 4th Degree (Domestic Violence).
- Violation of an Emergency Protection Order / Domestic Violence Order.
- Arrest Warrant out of Trigg County for Failure to Pay Fines.
Walsh was arrested and transported to the Calloway County Detention Center where he is being held awaiting bond. The Calloway County Sheriff’s Office is conducting the investigation and adjacent communication with, Murray Police Department, Murray State Police, Kentucky State Police, Graves County Sheriff’s Office, and the Trigg County Sheriff’s Office was conducted to locate the child quickly. The investigation is ongoing and other charges are pending.
