A Marshall County man is facing assault and drug charges after he allegedly attacked Marshall County deputy jailers this weekend.
According to the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department, Michael T. Culp, 45, of Benton, was arrested at 2:25 p.m. Saturday, June 10 on Glade Road after police served a warrant. Culp reportedly became aggressive and threatening upon arrival at the Marshall County Detention Center and assaulted two deputy jailers.
Officers searched Culp’s home on Jackson School Road the following day and allegedly discovered methamphetamine and paraphernalia during the course of the investigation.
Culp was charged with two counts of third-degree assault on a correctional employee, a class D felony; first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, first offense; trafficking in marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Additional charges through Benton Police Department may be pending.
