Marshall County Sheriff’s Department report June 13, 2017

On the night of June 12th, Deputy Josh Anderson began an investigation involving terroristic threatening. The investigation revealed that the suspect had threatened two people as well as threatening to burn a house. The suspect also made statements that indicated he would hurt officers. During the threats he indicated that he was armed with a handgun. An arrest warrant was issued by the Marshall District Court. As a result of the threats made and information that he was armed, the Marshall County Special Response Team assisted in the service of the warrant. Shawn M. Sparks age 36 of Benton was arrested without incident and charged with Terroristic Threatening.

On June 11th at approximately 5:15pm, Deputy William Strader investigated an injury crash on Paul Anderson Road. According to the report filed by Deputy Strader, a motorcycle traveling on Village Road toward Paul Anderson Road, driven by Johnathon Ferrell age 54 of Benton failed to stop at the stop sign and left the roadway, striking an embankment. Ferrell was transported by Marshall County EMS to a nearby location where the injured was picked up by Air Evac. The investigation is continuing.

Officer Steve Robinson of the Benton Police Department assisted in the arrest.On June 11, Deputy Chris Greenfield was dispatched to Moors Camp Highway in reference to a woman walking towards US 68 that had threatened to harm herself. Greenfield located the woman and his investigation revealed that she had been using methamphetamine. Stephanie Beale, 34, of Gilbertsville was charged with public intoxication – controlled substance and lodged in the Marshall County Detention Center.

On June 10, Deputy Chris Greenfield was dispatched to Bess Lane in reference to a woman striking a parked vehicle and appearing to be intoxicated. As a result of the ensuing investigation, Angela Jones, 44, of Benton was arrested and charged with operating a motor vehicle u/influence ALC/Drugs/Etc .08 aggravating circumstances, first offense; and operating on suspended or revoked operators license. She was lodged in the Marshall County Detention Center. Greenfield was assisted by Deputy Luke Rudd and Sgt. Jason Lane.

On June 11, Deputy Chris Greenfield served two arrest warrants on Joe Creason Drive. Mitchell McDonald, 48, of Benton was served warrants for first-degree bail jumping and failure to appear. He was lodged in the Marshall County Detention Center.
