A Paducah man was arrested Sunday after leading local law enforcement on a chase through McCracken, Marshall and Livingston counties.

Marshall County Sheriff Kevin Byars said deputies responded early Sunday morning to a pursuit in progress on U.S. Highway 62, which ended in a single-car collision near the Livingston County line.

Joshua Holmes, 27, was allegedly driving through Paducah with a passenger when Paducah Police Department officers spotted him and attempted to initiate contact. According to the McCracken County Sheriff’s Office, Holmes had outstanding warrants which included drug charges in the county.

Holmes allegedly fled the area; McCracken County Sheriff’s deputies picked up the pursuit near the Farley area and followed the vehicle through Reidland onto Hwy. 62. Marshall County Sheriff’s deputies joined the pursuit, which crossed Kentucky Dam and extended through Lake City.

Byars said Holmes lost control of the vehicle and struck a guard rail just in Livingston County, ending the chase.

Holmes was treated for injuries on scene and taken into custody; his passenger, who has not been identified, was taken to Marshall County Hospital, according to McCracken County Sheriff’s Department.

Holmes was taken to McCracken County Jail, where deputies anticipate additional charges of wanton endangerment and fleeing and evading police.

Marshall County charges and Kentucky State Police charges were pending.
