McCracken County deputies may have saved the life of a 90-year-old resident who fell in the snow overnight.

According to McCracken County Sheriff’s Office, residents called to report what sounded like a woman calling out for help somewhere in the distance in the Hendron community.

Deputies responded to the scene, combing the area through the snow. According to MCSO they located an elderly woman in the snow outside her home. The resident, who was not identified, had reportedly fallen while looking for her dog.

Deputies — Jim Wilson and Todd Ray — carried her inside the home and worked to warm her before an ambulance could arrive to take her to a local hospital for treatment.

“These two deputies will go home at the end of their long shift at around 6 this morning knowing that they saved a life this morning,” McCracken County Sheriff Jon Hayden said in a statement on social media. “And thank you also to the neighbors that took the time to call 911.”
