Mayfield, KY (September 10, 2018) – The Kentucky State Police Post 1 received a call about a young boy in a field with no one around on Sunday September 9, 2018 at approximately 4:54 p.m. The caller was driving on Old Dublin Road, when they noticed a young boy, approximately 1 year old alone. KSP arrived on scene and a neighbor showed KSP the house where the child lives and KSP found a door wide open. KSP entered the house to conduct a welfare check after no one would come to the door and found Nathan Taylor, 29, from Mayfield, asleep in the residence. Taylor was hard to wake, but once he awoke, he said the child was his. Taylor gave consent to KSP to search his residence. KSP found small amounts of methamphetamine, Marijuana and various drug paraphernalia. Taylor was arrested and charged with Wanton Endangerment 1st degree, Possession of controlled substance 1st degree, 1st offense –meth, possession of Marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Taylor was lodged in the Graves County Jail. The child was placed with a relative by the Cabinet for Community Based Services.
