On September 13, 2018 at approximately 10:27am, the McCracken County Sheriff’s Department was dispatched to the area of the 9 mile marker on I-24 eastbound to investigate a four vehicle injury collision.
Upon arrival, deputies found that Mrs. Autumn Boyd, 36 years old from Calvert City, was operating a silver 2011 GMC Yukon eastbound on I-24. Traffic had come to a standstill due to an uninvolved motorist and Mrs. Boyd was unable to stop in time, striking a silver 2017 Buick Encore, driven by Ms. Wanda Walls, 60 years old from
Dawson Springs, in the rear. This collision caused Ms. Walls vehicle to be pushed into two additional vehicles, a White 2011 Chevrolet HHR, driven by Garry Hall, 69 years old from West Paducah and a Silver 2010 Chevrolet Equinox, driven by Allen Melvin, 62 years old from West Frankfort Illinois. Mr. Melvin was accompanied by a
passenger, 54 year old Mr. Rex Slane, also from West Frankfort.
All occupants, except for Mr. Hall, were treated and transported by Mercy Regional EMS to area hospitals for non-incapacitating injuries.
The McCracken County Sheriff’s Department was assisted on scene by Mercy Regional EMS, and Reidland – Farley Fire Department.
I-24 eastbound at the 9 mile marker was restricted to one lane of traffic for approximately 1 hour for the investigation and cleanup of this collision.
