Marshall County Sheriff’s Report August 1st, 2016

On July 31 at approximately 2:30am, Deputies were still in the area looking for the ATV that had tried to run over Deputy Josh Anderson ( See earlier post ). Deputy Anderson and SGT. Jason Lane were on a trail on foot when they found another four wheeler. They attempted to stop the ATV but this subject also attempted to run over the officers. They were able to contact officers ahead on KY 402 and let them know the ATV was coming Deputies Chris Greenfield and Luke Rudd attempted to stop the vehicle but as it came onto the roadway it accelerated towards them. Deputy Greenfield was able to deploy his tazer, bringing his fleeing to an end. Justin Garland 28 of Almo, KY was charged with Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree, Fleeing or Evading Police 1st Degree, DUI, Criminal Mischief 3rd Degree

 

On July 30th at approximately 10:58am, Detective Sergeant Kevin Mighell was on US 68 when he observed a vehicle east bound with a driver that he knew to be suspended. Detective Sergeant Mighell stopped the vehicle and as a result of the ensuing investigation he charged the driver, Daniel K. Alexander, age 26 of Gilbertsville, with Operating on Suspended or Revoked Operators License and Failure to Produce Insurance Card. Alexander was also served active Bench Warrants from Marshall and McCracken Counties.

 

On July 30th at approximately 10:11 pm, Deputy Josh Anderson responded to Dogtown Road in reference to an ATV complaint. Upon arrival, Deputy Anderson observed several four wheelers and was able to stop one. When Deputy Anderson approached the vehicle he stepped to the front of the vehicle and told the operator to give him the keys. The suspect then took off almost striking the officer and causing Deputy Anderson to have to jump out of the way. A pursuit ensued and the ATV was able to get away. The next date at 12:37pm, as a result of the follow up investigation, the operator of the ATV had been identified. Deputies Curtner and Strader, along with a KSP Trooper, located the suspect in Hardin and he was arrested. Zachary B. Burkeen age 25 of Murray was charged with Fleeing or Evading Police 1st Degree and Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree – Police Officer.

On July 30th at approximately 3:43pm, Sergeant Eddie McGuire and Benton Police Officer Nick Spears responded to 4th Street in Hardin to a disturbance. According to a report filed by McGuire, It was reported that the suspect had assaulted someone at the home and had fired a shotgun through a wall. When SGT. McGuire attempted to arrest the suspect and take him to his vehicle, he resisted and ” Headbutted ” the officer in the chest. The suspect was taken to the ground and subdued before being transported to Marshall County Hospital for treatment then to the Marshall County Detention Center. Paul Deuerling age 50 of Hardin was charged with Assault 3rd Degree – Police Officer, Assault 4th Degree, and Resisting Arrest.

 

 

Marshall County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to 422 calls for service this week, These calls include the following:

1 Burglary
12 Disturbances / Fights
11 Follow Up Investigations
