On Monday April 18th Deputy Cory Curtner received tips in the location of a Jerry Purvis 30, of Paducah, who had an active bench warrant out of Marshall County. Deputy Curtner located Purvis in a vehicle on Hilldale Ln in Hardin. Purvis was placed under arrest for his outstanding warrant. The owner of the vehicle gave permission to search and deputies located a small container in the bed of the truck. Inside the container were three hypodermic needles, a spoon and several Q tips in which some were soaking in a small glass container. With the assistance of the narcotics detective, the drugs field tested positive for methamphetamine. Purvis stated to deputies that the items located belonged to him and not the passenger. Purvis was then charged additionally with Possession of Controlled Substance 1st Deg (methamphetamine), Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Giving Officer False Name or Address.
On April 17th Deputy Jeff Daniel responded to Barrett Road in reference to a theft from a vehicle. the victim reported that she confronted the person that had gone through her fiancee’s vehicle and he pulled what appeared to be a black handgun and told her that he did not know what she was talking about and ” it was fixing to get ugly”. Deputy Daniel found the suspect and vehicle and questioned the suspect. Curtis Ray Dukes age 33 of Calvert City was arrested and charged with Robbery 1st Degree. The alleged weapon was recovered and a BB handgun.
Continued investigation by Deputy Daniel, Detective Sergeant Tim Reynolds, and Deputy Cory Curtner resulted in a search warrant and additional charges on Dukes. Dukes was charged with Burglary 2nd Degree and Burglary 3rd degree based on other stolen items stolen locally in his possession. He was also charged with Possession of Controlled Substance 1st Degree ( Methamphetamine ) and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia based on items found in his home.
