Treven R. Weathers, 27, of 881 East 6th Avenue, Apt. #2, Calvert City was arrested on Dec. 2, 2017 for assault 4th degree (minor injury) and cruelty to animals 2nd degree.

Marshall County Sheriffs deputies, detectives and SRT unit personnel on Monday depart Pirates Cove after apprehending a wanted man living in the area.
A former Ohio resident living in Marshall County was arrested Monday, after police say he violated parole on a charge of aggravated robbery.
According to the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office, deputies and Marshall County Special Response Team specialists responded just before noon Monday, Dec. 4 to Windjammer Loop in Pirates Cove, after receiving information that a wanted suspect was living in the area. Investigation revealed that Matthew L. Dean, 29, of Hardin, formerly of Ohio, was wanted in the state of Ohio for parole violation stemming from an original charge of aggravated robbery. Police say information received from authorities in Ohio indicated Dean was armed and dangerous, prompting MCSO to activate the county’s SRT unit to serve the Ohio charges.
SRT is a multi-agency SWAT unit with officers from MCSO, Benton Police and specially trained medics from Marshall County EMS.
Just prior to SRT arrival, deputies and detectives located Dean walking on the road in the neighborhood. He was arrested without incident.
He was taken to Marshall County Detention Center, where he awaits extradition to Ohio.
Three area residents were arrested Monday, following a chase through Marshall County that ended in a single-car crash.
According to Kentucky State Police, about 9 p.m. Monday, Dec. 4 troopers attempted to stop a Honda passenger car for driving without headlights activated on U.S. Highway 68 in Marshall County. The driver of the vehicle allegedly failed to stop and accelerated to leave the scene.
The vehicle traveled about 10 miles before it lost control on Ky. Hwy. 1422. The car left the roadway and overturned.
The driver of the car, Jonathan C. Cash, 32, of Ledbetter, was airlifted to Skyline Medical Center in Nashville, Tenn., for treatment of non-incapacitating injuries suffered in the crash. He was treated and released, where Nashville Metropolitan Police Department took him into custody on an outstanding Kentucky parole violation warrant. Additional charges related to the pursuit were pending as of Tuesday.
Two passengers were arrested in connection to the incident, as well. Zachary A. Bonn, 25, of Paducah and Kealy M. McCalester, 21, of Paducah, were both taken to Marshall County Hospital via EMS for treatment of non-incapacitating injuries suffered in the crash. Bonn was arrested upon his release from the hospital and charged on suspicion of first-degree possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine); first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance (methamphetamine); and possession of marijuana.
McCalester was also arrested upon her release from the hospital and charged on suspicion of first-degree trafficking a controlled substance (methamphetamine); first-degree possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine); and possession of marijuana.
Bonn and McCalester were taken to the Marshall County Detention Center.
Marshall County Sheriff Department, Benton Police Department, Calvert City Police Department, Marshall County Ambulance, Air Evac and East Marshall Fire Department assisted on scene.
Benton Police are seeking the public’s help identifying a suspected shoplifter.
According to BPD, the man seen in the above photo is wanted for questioning in a shoplifting case that allegedly occurred Sunday, Dec. 3 at Walmart in Benton. The suspect could have ties to the Henry County or Paris, Tenn., area.
Police are asking anyone with information to call BPD at 270-527-1333 or to message the department on its Facebook page.
BPD reminds residents that all suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty by a court of law.
Kentucky State Police are attempting to locate an inmate from Marshall County Detention Center, after he left a work detail earlier today. Jeremy L. Meadows, 27, of Water Valley, left a work assignment at approximately 10 a.m.
Meadows is a white man, weighing about 140 pounds and standing about 6 feet tall, with blue eyes and short brown hair. He has numerous tattoos, to include visible horn tattoos on each facial temple. Meadows is believed to still be in the Post 1 area. He should be considered dangerous and should not be approached. KSP is asking anyone with information on the whereabouts of Mr. Meadows to immediately report the information through one of the ways below.
The investigation is continuing by Trooper Mike Ray. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Kentucky State Police Post 1 at 270-856-3721 or anonymously at 1-800-222-5555. Kentucky State Police have made an arrest in connection to an incident in which an inmate walked away from work detail Thursday morning in Marshall County.
According to KSP, troopers arrested Tammy C. Lamb, 44, of Murray about 3:30 p.m. Thursday after police located a 1998 Chevy SUV seen on surveillance footage allegedly picking up escaped inmate Jeremy Meadows after he left the scene. The vehicle was found at a residence on Ledbetter Road in Calloway County. Lamb, who was also at the residence, was arrested on suspicion of second-degree escape and taken to the Marshall County Detention Center.
The Calloway County Sheriff’s Department assisted on scene.
Police were still searching for Meadows, 27, of Water Valley as of Thursday evening. The investigation remains ongoing.

Benton Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying individuals who were involved in an incident at the Joe Creason Community Center.
According to BPD, sometime between Nov. 30 and Dec. 5, unknown suspects allegedly entered the community center, removed a fire extinguisher from the wall and sprayed the building down with it. The incident resulted in “an extremely large mess,” according to BPD and resulted in the cancellation of reservations for the space.
The incident is being treated as a criminal mischief investigation, which remains ongoing. Anyone with information regarding the alleged incident is asked to contact Benton Police Department through dispatch at 270-527-1333, or message officers through the department’s Facebook page.
The Kentucky State Police (KSP)will be conducting traffic safety checkpoints throughout the Post 1 district, to check motorists for compliance with motor vehicle laws including driving under the influence statutes. KSP utilizes traffic safety checkpoints to promote safety for motorists using the public roadways and to provide a deterrent for those who violate laws contained in the Kentucky Revised Statutes.
The intent of a traffic safety checkpoint is to provide for a high visibility, public safety service, focusing on vehicular equipment deficiencies, confirming appropriate registration and insurance of vehicles, and the valid licensing of drivers. Violations of law or other public safety issues that arise shall be addressed.
Traffic safety checkpoints will allow the Kentucky State Police the opportunity to periodically concentrate its efforts in checking for violations of Kentucky traffic and regulatory laws that will ultimately increase the safety of the citizens within the Commonwealth.Drivers encountering a traffic safety checkpoint are requested to have their operator’s license, vehicle registration receipt and proof of insurance readily accessible. Drivers with this information in hand, those with no violations of law and minimal roadway congestion can reasonably expect to be delayed for no more than 30 seconds to a few minutes.

Throughout the month, Troopers from the Mayfield Kentucky State Police Post conducted traffic safety checkpoints in the Post 1 District. KSP utilizes traffic safety checkpoints to promote safety for motorists and to provide a deterrent for those who violate laws contained in the Kentucky Revised Statutes.
The intent of a traffic safety checkpoint is to provide a highly visible, public safety service focusing on vehicular equipment deficiencies, confirming appropriate registration and insurance of vehicles, and the valid licensing of drivers. Violations of law or other public safety issues that arise shall be addressed.
Through December 1, 2017, preliminary results show there have been fifty-three people killed on the roadways in the Post 1 District: nineteen victims were not wearing seatbelts, six fatalities involved the suspected use of alcohol or drugs, one involved an off-road vehicle, one involved a motorcycle, and two pedestrians were struck and killed.
Kentucky State Police, Post 1, covers the 11 counties of Ballard, Calloway, Carlisle, Fulton, Graves, Hickman, Livingston, Lyon, Marshall, McCracken, and Trigg. A Benton man is facing charges after police say they found him allegedly intoxicated behind the wheel.
According to Marshall County Sheriff’s Office, about 9:20 a.m. Friday, Dec. 8, deputies responded to U.S. Highway 68 E in reference to a man passed out in his vehicle. Deputies on arrival found Paul S. Kissiar, 31, of Benton, allegedly asleep behind the wheel of his running vehicle. Police say Kissiar had his foot on the gas, though the vehicle was in park, with the car running at a high RPM. Police allege Kissiar was intoxicated at the time.
Kissiar was arrested and charged on suspicion of public intoxication of a controlled substance (excludes alcohol); possession of marijuana; possession of drug paraphernalia; prescription controlled substance not in a proper container, first offense; third-degree possession of a controlled substance; no registration plates; no registration receipt; and license to be in possession.
He was taken to the Marshall County Detention Center.
Carrie Lynn McGregor, 38, of 75 Quail Road, Calvert City was served a Marshall County Criminal Summons on December 08, 2017 for impersonating a public servant.
A Marshall County man is facing charges after deputies say he attempted to escape a police cruiser after he’d been arrested on a suspected DUI.
According to Marshall County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a call about 8:50 p.m. Friday, Dec. 8, to a Draffenville business. Staff reported that a customer was on site and intoxicated.
Deputies arrived and watched the suspected customer’s vehicle allgedly leave the premises down U.S. Highway 68. Police conducted a traffic stop after a short distance, according to MCSO, and investigation revealed the driver to be allegedly intoxicated.
Deputies arrested Bobby Joe Vick of Benton, and took him into custody. Upon apprehension, police say Vick attempted to kick out a window in the back of the police cruiser before he was removed from the vehicle. Vick allegedly resisted efforts to restrain him before he was successfully restrained and taken to Marshall County Hospital Emergency Room for a blood test.
Vick was charged on suspicion of aggravated DUI, second offense; third-degree escape (attempted); and second-degree disorderly conduct. He was taken to Marshall County Detention Center.
Deputy Chris Greenfield at 6:40 p.m. Dec. 8 served an arrest warrant from Marshall District Court for Contempt of Court. Michelle D. Cedar of Benton was lodged in the Marshall County Detention Center.
Deputy Barry Howell on Dec. 8 served two arrest warrants on Hope M. Johnson of Calvert City. Johnson turned herself in on two failure to appear warrants.
Deputy Chris Greenfield on Dec. 8 received information that a man living in Calvert City and working at a business in Draffenville was wanted. He investigated and discovered that Terry Lee Rudd, 39, of Calvert City was wanted in Missouri and in Illinois. Rudd was picked up without incident at his Draffenville employer. The charge in Missouri was probation violation and in Illinois, failure to appear on a charge of possession of methamphetamine. Rudd was lodged in the Marshall County Detention Center to await extradition proceedings. Greenfield was assisted by Deputy Luke Rudd.
Sgt. Jason Lane on Dec. 8 served two bench warrants on John Michael Hega of Benton. The bench warrants were for Failure to Appear in Marshall District Court. Lane was assisted by Sheriff Kevin Byars.
Deputy Luke Rudd was dispatched on Dec. 8 to McCoy Lane in reference to a reported violation of a Kentucky EPO / DVO. Deputies located the pperson and after an investigation, it was clear that he was at a location forbidden by the order. Trevor W. Fowler, 25, of Gilbertsville was charged with violation of Kentucky EPO / DVO and lodged in the Marshall County Detention Center. Rudd was assisted by Sgt. Jason Lane and Deputy Chris Greenfield.
Deputy Chris Greenfield at 3:53 p.m. Dec. 9, observed a vehicle parked in Spencer Starks Cemetery. Deputy Greenfield, knowing that the Sheriff’s Office has had complaints of drug use at this location, conducted a traffic stop of the vehicle on Karen Faye Lane. As a result of the ensuing investigation, Greenfield arrested the driver, Mark Paul Sopcak of Hardin. Sopcak was charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle Under Influence ALC/ Drugs/ Etc .08 3rd Offense, Possession of Open Alcoholic Beverage Container in Motor Vehicle, and Driving On DUI Suspended License. Deputy Luke Rudd also arrested the passenger, Kenneth Dean of Hardin who was served an arrest warrant on a Kentucky State Police case charging him with Failure to Comply W/Sex Offender Registration 1st Offense.

Three people were injured Monday in a three-car crash on U.S. Highway 641.
According the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office, emergency responders were dispatched about 9:59 a.m. Monday, Dec. 11, to Hwy. 641 and Ky. 402. Deputies say Melanie R. Cotton was attempting to make a left turn onto Hwy. 402 when she turned into the path of a vehicle driven by Nathan G. Hall of Murray. Hall struck Cotton’s vehicle, which then spun into a car driven by Alexia J. Higgins of Benton.
Cotton, Hall and a passenger in Hall’s car, Samantha J. Hall, also of Murray, were all taken to Marshall County Hospital via EMS for treatment of injuries suffered in the crash.

Area law enforcement have partnered with the U.S. Marshals service to bring a man wanted on suspicion of crimes against a minor into custody.
According to the Graves County Sheriff’s Office, about 2:23 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 12, deputies with GCSO, McCracken County and Marshall County Sheriffs’ offices partnered with U.S. Marshals to arrest Carlos Simon Escamilla at a residence at 628 S. 8th St. in Mayfield. Escamilla was wanted in San Diego, Calif., on charges of rape of a minor and three other sexual offenses, including kidnapping, according to GCSO.
Escamilla was taken to the Graves County Jail on a local charge of fugitive from justice; his bail was set on the original warrant from San Diego, Calif., at $1 million.
FRANKFORT, Ky. (Dec. 13, 2017) – The Kentucky Office of Highway Safety (KOHS) today honored more than 200 law enforcement officers from 185 agencies across the Commonwealth for their efforts to target impaired drivers.
The 2017 Governor’s Impaired Driving Enforcement Awards ceremony was held at the Hyatt Regency in downtown Lexington. Awards were presented to officers with the most impaired-driving arrests in each agency and Highway Safety All-Star awards were presented to the top three in each division.
“We are honoring those who put their lives on the line each day to save the lives of others,” said KOHS Executive Director Dr. Noelle Hunter. “These officers, their departments and agencies render a great service for all Kentuckians, and on behalf of Governor Matt Bevin, we say thank you.”
Perry County District Judge Leigh Anne Stephens, who was injured by a drunken driver in 2015, commended the aggressive enforcement and awareness efforts.
“It is an honor to stand before those who serve and protect the citizens of the Commonwealth,” said Judge Stephens. “We will never know the number of lives saved and victims spared by your efforts to stop drunk and drugged drivers. When I see a law enforcement officer, I see a friend. You have my utmost respect and admiration. I thank you for your service, I thank God for you and I pray for your own safety and protection.”

A local man and juvenile are facing charges after police say they were caught with marijuana during the weekend.
According to the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office, deputies on Saturday, Dec. 16 were patrolling the area near the lot behind Five Star and Hardee’s in Draffenville, after having received several complaints of ongoing illegal activity. Deputy Chris Greenfield observed three men sitting in a truck in the lot and pulled in to check on the occupants. Further investigation resulted in charges. Ryan Cole Hollis, 25, of Calvert City was charged on suspicion of possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and loitering and cited to appear in Marshall County District Court.
A 17-year-old juvenile was also charged with possession of marijuana, posession of drug paraphernalia and loitering, as well as possession of an open alcoholic beverage in a motor vehicle, person under 18 possessing or attempting to purchase or have another purchase alcohol.
Deputy Beth Street at 11:24 a.m. Dec. 14, arrested Kevin Blake Reed of Benton on a Marshall County bench warrant.

Greenfield ranked second in Division 2 in DUI arrests for the year, earning him recognition at the annual Governor’s Impaired Driving Enforcement Awards.
Two local law enforcement officials were recognized last week for their efforts in keeping impaired drivers off the road.
According to the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC), Marshall County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Chris Greenfield and Calvert City Police Officer Wes Babcock were among those recognized at the Governor’s Impaired Driving Enforcement Awards Wednesday in Lexington. Babcock was among 75 officers, patrolmen and deputies in Division 1 recognized as first in their agency in number of DUI arrests.
Greenfield won among MCSO deputies and ranked second among 55 Division 2 agencies statewide, with 57 DUI arrests this year. According to MCSO, Greenfield and Sheriff Kevin Byars traveled to Lexington for the awards ceremony, where he was presented with a commemorative Louisville Slugger and ball as a Kentucky Highway Safety “All Star.”
Awards were presented to officers with the most impaired-driving arrests in each agency and Highway Safety All-Star awards were presented to the top three in each division. This year’s ceremony recognized more than 200 officers in 185 agencies across the state.
The KOHS, Kentucky State Police and other law enforcement agencies are partnering for the “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” holiday enforcement campaign running through Jan. 1. The campaign is funded through NHTSA, which says high-visibility enforcement reduces impaired driving fatalities by as much as 20 percent.
The Kentucky State Police (KSP)will be conducting traffic safety checkpoints throughout the Post 1 district, to check motorists for compliance with motor vehicle laws including driving under the influence statutes. KSP utilizes traffic safety checkpoints to promote safety for motorists using the public roadways and to provide a deterrent for those who violate laws contained in the Kentucky Revised Statutes.
The intent of a traffic safety checkpoint is to provide for a high visibility, public safety service, focusing on vehicular equipment deficiencies, confirming appropriate registration and insurance of vehicles, and the valid licensing of drivers. Violations of law or other public safety issues that arise shall be addressed.
Traffic safety checkpoints will allow the Kentucky State Police the opportunity to periodically concentrate its efforts in checking for violations of Kentucky traffic and regulatory laws that will ultimately increase the safety of the citizens within the Commonwealth.Drivers encountering a traffic safety checkpoint are requested to have their operator’s license, vehicle registration receipt and proof of insurance readily accessible. Drivers with this information in hand, those with no violations of law and minimal roadway congestion can reasonably expect to be delayed for no more than 30 seconds to a few minutes.
