Throughout the month, Troopers from the Mayfield Kentucky State Police Post conducted traffic safety checkpoints in the Post 1 District. KSP utilizes traffic safety checkpoints to promote safety for motorists and to provide a deterrent for those who violate laws contained in the Kentucky Revised Statutes.

The intent of a traffic safety checkpoint is to provide a highly visible, public safety service focusing on vehicular equipment deficiencies, confirming appropriate registration and insurance of vehicles, and the valid licensing of drivers. Violations of law or other public safety issues that arise shall be addressed.

Through September 3, 2018, preliminary results show there have been twenty five people killed on the roadways in the Post 1 District. Of the twenty five, four fatalities were motorcycles and seven were not wearing a seatbelt.

Kentucky State Police, Post 1, covers the 11 counties of Ballard, Calloway, Carlisle, Fulton, Graves, Hickman, Livingston, Lyon, Marshall, McCracken, and Trigg. Citizens can contribute to highway safety by reporting erratic drivers to the Kentucky State Police, toll-free, at 1-800-222-5555 Callers may remain anonymous and should give a description of the vehicle, location, direction of travel, and license number if possible.

UPDATE: KSP Searching for Escaped Inmate from Fulton County

UPDATE: Hickman, KY (September 5, 2018) – The Kentucky State Police is continuing their investigation into the escape of Timothy R. Richardson.  KSP found his jail clothes outside of the jail and believe he is now wearing an unknown type of civilian clothing.  Richardson is possibly wearing a pair of Nike tennis shoes, gray in color.  Richardson has previously been convicted of auto theft, so KSP is encouraging everyone to ensure they lock their cars and to immediately report any unusual activity in the area.

Richardson was working on a kitchen work detail for the jail and disappeared from the detail around 3:55 a.m. Fulton County Dispatch notified KSP of the escape at approximately 04:20 a.m.  Richardson, 34 of Shepherdsville, KY is described as a white male, 5’11”, weighing approximately 190 pounds, brown hair, and hazel eyes, normally wears glasses, has a beard and numerous tattoos over his body.

Trooper John Holt is continuing the investigation. Richardson should be considered dangerous if anyone has contact with him or sees him, do not try to approach him, contact law enforcement immediately. Hickman, KY (September 5, 2018) – The Fulton County Detention Center staff contacted the Kentucky State Police Post 1 in Mayfield at approximately 0425 a.m. in reference to an inmate that escaped from their facility today.

Timothy R. Richardson, 34 of Shepherdsville, KY is described as a white male, 5’11”, he weighs approximately 190 pounds, brown hair, and hazel eyes, normally wears glasses, has a beard and has numerous tattoos over his body.   Richardson was wearing a blue detention clothing.  Richardson is a state inmate serving time for various charges to include Wanton Endangerment 1st degree on a Police Officer, Fleeing and Evading, Auto Theft, and various drug charges.

Richardson should be considered dangerous if anyone has contact with do not try to approach him, contact law enforcement immediately. On August 27th, Sergeant Jason Lane served a Calloway County complaint warrant on Kenneth Robert Lima of Murray. The charges were Burglary 3rd Degree and Theft by Unlawful Taking or Dispensation Auto.

On August 29th, Sergeant Rick Inman of the Court Security Division observed a man in the Judicial Building that appeared to have been drinking. Upon further investigation Kevin Raley of Benton was arrested and charged with Alcohol Intoxication in a Public Place.

On August 29th, Deputy Steven Oakley served a Bond Violation warrant on Zachary Bonn of Paducah.

On August 29th, Detective Nathan Maxlow of the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office and Detective Captain Jesse Riddle of the McCracken County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on US 62 in Possum Trot. Patrol Deputy Steven Oakley responded to assist. As a result of the ensuing investigation, the Driver Tammy E. Jackson of Benton was arrested and charged with Failure to Use Child Restraint, Booster Seat Violation and Trafficking In Controlled Substance 1st Degree 1st offense. The Passenger Darla McCoy of Paducah was charged with Possession of Controlled Substance 2nd Degree, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Prescription Drug Not in Proper Container.

On Aug 30th, Captain Matt Hilbrecht served two Failure to Appear warrants on Jonathan Johnston of Calvert City.

On August 30th Sergeant Jason Lane served an Indictment Warrant on Belinda Louann Garrison of Paducah. The charge was Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument 2nd Degree.

On August 31st Deputy Nick Spears was on patrol at the Sledd Creek Boat Ramp off of Ridge Road when he found a vehicle parked without headlights on and several people in the vehicle. Continued investigation revealed that the occupants were minors and one was armed. A Hazel, KY juvenile was charged with Possession of Handgun by a Minor 1st Offense and released to parents. No other charges were filed.

On September 1st Deputy Nick Spears and Deputy Chris Greenfield responded to a disturbance on Benton Birmingham Road. Deputies were looking for a Donald S. Fannin as a result of the investigation. Deputy Spears located Fannin on Dogtown Road and arrested him. Fannin was charged with 2 Counts of Assault 4th Degree and 1 count of Criminal Mischief 3rd Degree. Fannin was also served by Deputy Spears with two Failure to Appear Warrants.

On September 2, Detective Nathan Maxlow served an arrest warrant Failure to Appear on Austin Wade Powell of Benton. While at the residence Detective Maxlow observed items which resulted in additional charges on Powell for Possession of Marijuana and Drug Paraphernalia Buy / Possess.

Diel Arrest on Fourth Degree Assault

Hunter T. Diel, 19, of the 1000 block of Tennessee Street arrested on charges of fourth-degree assault (domestic violence), first-degree wanton endangerment, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon and tampering with physical evidence

A teen-ager was arrested after he assaulted his girlfriend and fired a handgun at a vehicle occupied by her and four other individuals.

Police were called at 4:41 p.m. Thursday to a home in the 1000 block of Tennessee Street. Officers spoke with Shaunna Hall, who said she and her boyfriend, Hunter Diel had an argument and he struck her with his fists several times.

Hall said as she and four others left Diel’s home on Tennessee Street, he fired a handgun in the direction of their vehicle as they drove away.

Police obtained a search warrant for Diel’s home and found a magazine with ammunition for a .45-caliber handgun, a receipt for a handgun and additional loose ammunition. During an interview with police, Diel admitted shooting at the vehicle and disposing of the .380-caliber handgun before police arrived.

Diel was arrested on charges of fourth-degree assault (domestic violence), first-degree wanton endangerment, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon and tampering with physical evidence and booked into McCracken County Regional Jail.

 

KSP Arrests Graves County Man on Felony Charges

Mayfield, KY (September 10, 2018) The Kentucky State Police Post 1 received a call about a young boy in a field with no one around on Sunday September 9, 2018 at approximately 4:54 p.m. The caller was driving on Old Dublin Road, when they noticed a young boy, approximately 1 year old alone.  KSP arrived on scene and a neighbor showed KSP the house where the child lives and KSP found a door wide open.  KSP entered the house to conduct a welfare check after no one would come to the door and found Nathan Taylor, 29, from Mayfield, asleep in the residence. Taylor was hard to wake, but once he awoke, he said the child was his.  Taylor gave consent to KSP to search his residence.  KSP found small amounts of methamphetamine, Marijuana and various drug paraphernalia.  Taylor was arrested and charged with Wanton Endangerment 1st degree, Possession of controlled substance 1st degree, 1st offense –meth, possession of Marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.     Taylor was lodged in the Graves County Jail.  The child was placed with a relative by the Cabinet for Community Based Services.

On September 3rd Major David Maddox and Deputy Barry Howell responded to a campground near Draffenville to investigate a civil issue involving a rental car. When Deputies pulled up a female ran from them. The Deputies were able to catch the woman and further investigation revealed a parole violation warrant for her. Jacinda L. Campbell of Salem , KY was served the warrant and additionally charged with Fleeing or Evading Police 2nd Degree and Drug Paraphernalia Buy / Possess.

On September 4th Deputy Dennis Lewis investigated a case of vandalism. As a result of the investigation, Darren Dewayne Dennison of Louisville, KY was arrested and charged with Criminal Mischief 1st Degree. The investigation revealed that Dennison took a piece of fence and struck a car several times causing considerable damage.

On September 4th, Sergeants Jason Lane and Tim Reynolds as well as Deputy Cory Curtner and Detective Lieutenant Kevin Mighell, while assisting the McCracken County Sheriff’s Office were looking for a Christian Andrew Childress of Paducah. The Deputies served warrants on Childress on Will-Thom Lane in Benton. Childress was served a McCracken County warrant on Childress and also charged him in Marshall County with Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon due to a rifle found during the arrest.

On September 5th, Deputy Steven Oakley served a complaint warrant on William C. Powell of Benton. The charge was Sexual Abuse 1st Degree Victim U/ 12.

On September 5th, Major David Maddox served three bench warrants. Rayanna Martin of Calvert City was served a warrant for Violation of Pretrial Diversion. Cameron M. White of Benton was served two Probation Violation warrants.

On September 5th at 12:15pm, Captain Matt Hilbrecht served a Hopkins County Complaint Warrant for Theft By Deception and Graves County Indictment Warrant for three counts of Theft by Deception and one of Persistent Felony Offender. The warrants were served on Steven M. Melloy of Mayfield.

On September 5th at 9:13pm, Deputy Dennis Lewis investigated a report of assault on Forest Road. According to a citation filed by Deputy Lewis, his investigation led to the arrest of Michael Eugene England of Benton on a charge of Assault 4th Degree.

On September 5th Deputy Cory Curtner investigated a vehicle crash on Mt. Moriah Road. The crash was a single vehicle roll over. After Fire and EMS concluded their response, Deputies investigated and as a result, the driver, Dominique Breeden of Calvert City was arrested and charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle U/Influence Alc/Drugs/Etc .08 -1st Offense. Breeden was lodged in the Marshall County Detention Center.

On September 6th, Deputy Nick Spears served a Davies County warrant for Failure to Appear. Tamara S. McFarland of Gilbertsville was lodged in the Marshall County Detention Center.

On September 6th Deputy Chris Greenfield was dispatched to a disturbance on Dunn Cemetery Road. As a result of his investigation, Jeremy Wynn of Benton was charged with Assault 4th Degree 3rd Offense and lodged in the Marshall County Detention Center.

On September 6th, Deputy Nick Spears responded to Brewers Highway in reference to a vehicle that had run off of the road. The crash had been found by Sergeant Tim Reynolds while he was off duty. As a result of Deputy Spears investigation the driver, Bennie G. Beasley of Hardin was arrested and charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle U/Influence Alc/Drugs/Etc .08 2nd Offense and Possession of Controlled Substance 3rd Degree.

On Friday September 7th Deputy Nick Spears received a complaint of a possible violation of an EPO on Robbie Way. Upon investigation, Deputy Spears arrested Steven R. Noles 37, of Benton, for Violation of a Kentucky EPO/DVO.

On Saturday September 8th Deputy Josh Anderson was dispatched to Jackson School Road in reference to a domestic disturbance. Upon arrival, Deputy Anderson spoke with the victim who advised Deputy Anderson of the events that took place. After investigation, Zachary B. Thorn 30, of Benton, was arrested and charged with Assault 4th Degree (Domestic Violence).

On Sunday September 9th, Deputy Nick Spears received a call in reference to a domestic disturbance on Darnell Road. Upon arrival, deputies concluded that John O. Jones 70, of Benton, had an active warrant out of McCracken County for Failure to Appear. Jones advised he needed to go get bond money in his bedroom and at that time Deputy Anderson observed him look under his mattress but put it down as soon as he seen that they were watching. When deputies asked the victim if there was anything under the mattress she didn’t know of anything so she went and looked. When she lifted up the mattress a meth pipe along with a paper towel with meth inside it was located. At that time deputies inquired with Jones about the meth pipe in which he stated a friend had left it there. Jones later admitted to smoking meth a few days prior. Jones was then also arrested and charged with Possession of Controlled Substance 1st Degree and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

For the week of September 3rd through September 10th the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office responding to the following: 11 Traffic Accidents, 12 Traffic Stops, 1 DUI, 5 Motorist Assists, 116 Extra Patrol Requests, 9 Burglary/Theft reports, 11 Disturbances, 10 Domestic Disturbances, 4 Emergency Protective Orders, 1 Alcohol Intoxication, 5 Investigations, 2 Drug Investigations, 16 Have a Deputy Call, 6 Suspicious People, 8 Suspicious Vehicles, 11 Warrants Served, 29 Civil Papers Served and 4 Welfare Checks contributing to 350 calls responded to.

For the week of September 3rd through September 7th the Marshall County Court Security attended 9 court sessions, moved 16 inmates to and from court, checked 1569 people into the Judicial Building, transported 6 adults out of the county and inspected 45 vehicles.


Four vehicle injury collision at the 9 mile marker on I-24

On September 13, 2018 at approximately 10:27am, the McCracken County Sheriff’s Department was dispatched to the area of the 9 mile marker on I-24 eastbound to investigate a four vehicle injury collision.

Upon arrival, deputies found that Mrs. Autumn Boyd, 36 years old from Calvert City, was operating a silver 2011 GMC Yukon eastbound on I-24. Traffic had come to a standstill due to an uninvolved motorist and Mrs. Boyd was unable to stop in time, striking a silver 2017 Buick Encore, driven by Ms. Wanda Walls, 60 years old from
Dawson Springs, in the rear. This collision caused Ms. Walls vehicle to be pushed into two additional vehicles, a White 2011 Chevrolet HHR, driven by Garry Hall, 69 years old from West Paducah and a Silver 2010 Chevrolet Equinox, driven by Allen Melvin, 62 years old from West Frankfort Illinois. Mr. Melvin was accompanied by a
passenger, 54 year old Mr. Rex Slane, also from West Frankfort.

All occupants, except for Mr. Hall, were treated and transported by Mercy Regional EMS to area hospitals for non-incapacitating injuries.

The McCracken County Sheriff’s Department was assisted on scene by Mercy Regional EMS, and Reidland – Farley Fire Department.

I-24 eastbound at the 9 mile marker was restricted to one lane of traffic for approximately 1 hour for the investigation and cleanup of this collision.

Kentucky State Police remember Trooper Cameron Ponder on third anniversary

EDDYVILLE, KY (September 13, 2018) – Kentucky State Police, along with local law enforcement and the mother of Trooper Cameron Ponder, gathered today to remember the fallen trooper. Trooper Joseph ‘Cameron’ Ponder was fatally shot on September 13, 2015 while conducting a routine traffic stop on Interstate 24 in Lyon County. 

Shortly thereafter, a flagpole was erected at the site of the shooting. Around the flagpole, many flowers and other remembrances have been placed over the past two years.

Today, on the 3rd anniversary, KSP gathered with fellow law enforcement family and Cameron’s mother, to place a wreath in remembrance of Trooper Ponder’s life and sacrifice.

KSP Arrests Marshall County Resident for Stealing Vehicle

Grand Rivers, KY (September 15, 2018) – The Kentucky State Police Post 1 received a call from the Livingston County Dispatch about a frantic women knocking on doors in the Grand Rivers community on September 14, 2018 at approximately 00:28 a.m. A short time later, KSP located the vehicle described by callers parked and running on
Forrest Road and Loretta D. Sims, 39 of Benton, KY. was found in the lobby of a nearby hotel. Sims appeared to be under the influence and admitted to smoking meth.

Sims told KSP that she had left a residence and found an unlocked car with the keys still in the ignition. Sims took the car without the owner’s permission and fled the area. Sim’s was arrested and charged with Theft by Unlawful Taking – Auto $500 or more but under $10,000, DUI 1st offense, and Operating a Motor Vehicle with an Expired Operators License. Sim’s was lodged in the McCracken County Jail.

KSP Makes Arrest from Burglary Investigation

Mayfield, KY (September 15, 2018) – The Kentucky State Police has been investigating a burglary of a residence in Water Valley since September 6, 2018.   During the investigation, KSP learned some of the stolen firearms were at a residence in Hickman County.  On September 14, 2018 KSP was able to obtain a search warrant for the residence and recovered one of the stolen firearms.  KSP Trooper Brian Luckett arrested Brandon R. Davis, 35 of Fulton, KY and charged him with; Receiving Stolen Property-firearm, Trafficking in a Controlled Substance 1st degree greater than 2 grams Methamphetamine, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.   Davis was lodged in the Fulton County Jail. KSP also conducted a search warrant in Mayfield, KY in relation to the burglary investigation.  Trooper Aaron Jestes arrested Ashley D. Dixon, 22 of Mayfield, KY and charged her with; Trafficking in a Controlled Substance 1st degree greater than 2 grams Methamphetamine, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.  Trooper Brian Luckett also arrested Derek F. Brown, 35 of Mayfield, KY and charged him with; Trafficking in a Controlled Substance 1st degree greater than 2 grams Methamphetamine, Possession of a Handgun by a Convicted Felon, Tampering with Physical Evidence, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.   Both Brown and Dixon were lodged in the Graves County Jail.

KSP Works Injury Collision in Mayfield

Mayfield, KY (September 18, 2018) The Kentucky State Police Post 1 received a call from the Mayfield Police Department asking KSP to work an injury collision at approximately 6:36 p.m. on September 17, 2018.

Preliminary investigation shows a 9 year old juvenile traveling north on 13th Street on a bicycle and failed to yield the right of way to traffic traveling west on Housman Street. David J. Cotton, 25 of Clinton, KY., was traveling west on Houseman Street, operating a 1994 Ford Ranger pick-up truck. Due to the time of day and direction of travel, Cotton did not see the juvenile entering his path due to sun-glare. The juvenile, not wearing a helmet, collided with the pick-up truck and sustained severe injuries. A Mayfield-Graves County Ambulance was traveling on Housman Street and was able to immediately stop and render first aid to the juvenile. The juvenile was transported to Baptist Health Paducah and later airlifted to Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt, where she remains in critical condition.

KSP Collision Re-Constructionist Sergeant Eric Fields is continuing the investigation. KSP was assisted on the scene by the Mayfield-Graves EMS, and the Mayfield Police Department. On September 10th Deputy Jason Ivey served an active bench warrant for Failure to Appear on Rebecca D. Long 37, of Benton. Long was already detained in the Marshall County Detention Center.

On September 10th Deputy Barry Howell located a male subject walking on I-69 northbound at the Graves/Marshall line. Dispatch verified that Joshua Autrey 29, of Calhoun, KY, had an active Indictment warrant out of Ohio County along with a Bench warrant out of Daviess County. Autrey was placed under arrest and lodged in the Marshall County Detention Center.

On Monday September 10th at 11:28 p.m. Deputy Josh Anderson observed a vehicle being operated in a reckless manner on US 68 E. A traffic stop was conducted near Jonathan Elementary School and upon contact Deputy Anderson observed a strong smell of alcohol. When asked for proof of insurance, Deputy Anderson observed an unopen beer in her purse. She was then asked if she had anything to drink and she stated it ad been approximately 1 hour prior. Upon search of the vehicle, deputies located 1 open beer can, 1 open whiskey bottle and 3 more unopen beer cans. The female subject also had a 2 year old child in the car with her at the time. Ginger D. Dees 65, of Mayfield, was arrested and charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence, Wanton Endangerment 2nd Degree and Possession of Open Alcohol Beverage Container in Motor Vehicle. After being placed in custody and taken to the Marshall County Detention Center the deputy jailer located a bottle with 107 lortabs in it. Dees as asked warned prior to arrival about taking contraband into the jail. Dees was then also charged with Promoting Contraband 1st Degree and Possession of Controlled Substance 1st Degree.

On September 11th Deputy Jason Ivey and Deputy Steven Oakley responded to Concord Drive in reference to a disturbance. Upon arrival, deputies were met in the roadway by a female subject who advised the male subject was intoxicated and angry and may possibly have a gun. The subject stepped onto the porch and yelled profanities at the deputies and proceeded back into the house. The subject came back outside and as the subject went to shut the door Deputy Ivey stepped between the door while the subject was still trying to shut it. Deputies proceeded to have to deploy their tasers to control the subject and get him into custody. Billy Sharp 35, of Gilbertsville, was arrested and charged with Menacing.

On September 11th Court Security Officer Brandon Little was notified a Jonathan A. Hack 45, of LaCenter, had been caught concealing urine in his waistband. Hack was arrested and charged with Tampering with Physical Evidence.

On September 11th Sheriff Kevin Byars served an active bench warrant out of Marshall County for Failure to Appear on Megan S. Watters 39, of Benton. Watters was already lodged in the Marshall County Detention Center.

On September 12th Sgt. Tim Reynolds responded to Murray Hwy in reference to a vehicle parked in a driveway with the headlights on. Upon arrival, the vehicle was still in the drive and as Sgt. Reynolds put his light on the car he observed a male subject in the drivers seat. The car then drove forward striking the residence. Upon contact, Sgt. Reynolds observed a bottle of whiskey in the front seat. As the male subject got out of the car a lid had fell out of his lap. There was a bottle of bourbon in the passenger floor board that was nearly empty. The driver was unable to follow to respond to any commands and had difficulty standing. Jakob R. Taylor 18, of Benton, was arrested and charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence of Alcohol, Possession of Open Alcoholic Beverage Container in Motor Vehicle, Failure to Produce Insurance Card, Criminal Mischief 2nd Degree and Person 18-20 Poss/Purch/ Att Purch/Have Another Purch Alcohol.

On September 15th, Deputy Barry Howell served an arrest warrant on William C. Brown of Benton for Failure to Appear.

On September 16th, Deputy Josh Anderson served an arrest warrant on Blake T. Keeling of Benton for Flagrant Non Support.

On September 16th, Deputy Josh Anderson served an arrest warrant on Riley Zane Adams of Benton for Failure to Appear in McCracken County.

On September 16th, Deputy Chris Greenfield and Deputy Josh Anderson were dispatched to a motor Vehicle crash at the intersection of Mayfield Highway and Johnston Subdivision Road. The report was of a vehicle that had struck a garage. After the investigation, Deputy Greenfield arrested Keisha S. Johnson of Symsonia, KY. Johnson was charged with Operating A Motor Vehicle U/Influence Alc/Drugs/Etc .08 Aggravating Circumstances 1st Offense.

On September 16th Deputy Chris Greenfield was dispatched to Purchase Parkway in the area of the 42 Mile Marker in reference to a vehicle stuck in the median. Deputy Greenfield spoke to the driver who reported that he had missed his exit and was trying to turn around and got stuck. Further investigation by Deputy Greenfield resulted in the arrest of the driver Ralph Travis of New Johnsonville, TN. Travis was charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle U/Influence Alc/Drugs/Etc .08 1st Offense. and Possession of Controlled Substance 3rd Degree.

Deputy Greenfield found boxes of Tramadol and Valium in the vehicle with a shipping box indicating that the medications had come from Asia. Neither had prescription information.


Kentucky State Police warns of counterfeit money

Mayfield, KY (September 20, 2018) – The Kentucky State Police are warning the public and area businesses of counterfeit money being circulated throughout the area.  On Wednesday, September 19th, Troopers responded to a bank who had reported a customer attempting to deposit multiple $100 dollar bills which were determined to be counterfeit.  After an investigation, it was determined the counterfeit bills had been obtained through multiple cash transaction at the Mayfield Trade Day earlier in the week.  Due to the anonymous nature of the sale, Troopers are unable to determine from who the bills originated.  Businesses are cautioned to examine any suspicious currency and contact law enforcement if they determine the bills to be counterfeit.

Five Charged With Drug Offenses

A joint investigation between the McCracken County Sheriff’s Department, Marshall County Sheriff’s Office, the Paducah Police Department and Deputy US Marshals has led to five different individuals being charged with various drug and weapon offenses in the past two days in McCracken County.

On 09/18/2018 at approximately 1:10pm detectives conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on Holt Road driven by 22 year old Tyler Bray of Metropolis IL. During the stop detectives smelled the odor the Marijuana coming from the vehicle. Bray admitted that he had Marijuana inside the vehicle. During a search of the vehicle detectives seized over nine ounces of high grade Marijuana. Detectives also seized $439 off of Bray’s person that is believed to be proceeds of illegal drug sales. Bray was arrested and lodged in the McCracken County Regional Jail.

On 09/19/2018 at approximately 2:16pm detectives conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle at the intersection of Seitz and Old Mayfield Road. The vehicle was found to be occupied by Chasity Tabor and Derek Barnhill. Tabor, who was operating the vehicle, had a suspended license. While deputies were issuing a citation for traffic offenses, PPD Sgt. Shawn Craven arrived and deployed his K-9 “Huub” around the outside of the vehicle. K-9 Huub indicated to the presence of illegal narcotics coming from the vehicle. During a search of the search of the vehicle, detectives seized approximately five grams of Crystal Methamphetamine, Valium, smoking pipes, scales, and Smith and Wesson .40 handgun. The handgun had an obscured serial number where someone had attempted to remove the serial number to prevent law enforcement from identifying if it was stolen. Barnhill is a convicted felon and unable to lawfully possess a firearm. Detectives seized $545 in US currency from Barnhill that is believed to be proceeds of illegal drug sales. Both Tabor and Barnhill were arrested.

On 09/19/2018 detectives obtained information that Kendrick Malone, who was a federal fugitive out Memphis TN, was staying at 503 Highland Boulevard Apartment “E” Paducah KY 42003. Detectives also obtained information alleging that Malone was selling Methamphetamine from the apartment. As part of the ensuing investigation McCracken detectives, Marshall County detectives and Deputy US Marshals obtained and executed a search warrant at 503 Highland Boulevard Apartment E Paducah, KY 42003 at 1035pm. Kendrick Malone and Daisy Downen were located inside the apartment. During a search of the residence detectives seized 102 grams of Crystal Methamphetamine, Marijuana, scales, smoking pipe and $901 in US currency that his believed to be proceeds of illegal drug sales. Malone was arrested and lodged in the McCracken County Regional Jail. Downen was cited and released.

The seized Methamphetamine in the case against Malone has an estimated street value of more than $10,000. Malone is an alleged gang member from Memphis, TN who has an extensive criminal history.

The investigation is continuing.

Charges: Operating on a suspended license, no insurance and possession of Methamphetamine

Arrested: Derek Barnhill 41, of Paducah KY

Charges: Firearm enhanced trafficking in Meth, possession of handgun by a felon, possession of a defaced firearm and possession of drug paraphernalia

Arrested: Kendrick Malone 42, of Paducah KY

Charges: Trafficking in Methamphetamine 2nd or subsequent offense, possession of Marijuana, drug paraphernalia and fugitive from another state ( outstanding federal probation violation out of Memphis TN on underlying drug trafficking charges)

Cited: Daisy L. Downen 37, of Paducah KY

Charges: Possession of Methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia

UPDATE: The Kentucky State Police continue to investigate the attempted abduction of a Mayfield teen late Sunday night.  Troopers and Detectives are gathering any surveillance footage that may have captured the incident.  The Kentucky State Police Intelligence Branch is working closely with investigators to try and determine the registered owner of the vehicle described.  Anyone who has seen a white Kia Soul acting in a suspicious manner are urged to contact the Kentucky State Police at 270-856-3721 or dial 911.

They say a man tried to kidnap a random girl, but that she was able to fight and get away. The man was described as white, in his mid 30’s with black hair and a black goatee. He was driving a white Kia Soul near Mayfield.

David L. Maiden (who also uses the name David L. Robinson), 38, whose last known address was the 5200 block of Old Mayfield Road, charged in a Jefferson County, KY, warrant with second-degree escape

Paducah police are seeking the public’s help in locating a man who escaped from a Louisville halfway house and who is suspected of breaking into two Paducah homes last week.

David L. Maiden is charged in a warrant with second-degree escape. Additionally, he is suspected of breaking into residences on Madison and Jefferson streets last week while the residents were home and taking miscellaneous items.

Maiden is described as a white male, 5-foot-9 and 180 pounds with brown hair and blue eyes.
