KSP Arrests Marshall County Man on Child Abuse Charges

Benton, KY. (October 14, 2016) On October 13, 2016, Kentucky State Police were
contacted by the Cabinet for Health and Family Services after a six week-old infant
from Marshall County was taken to Lourdes Hospital in Paducah, KY for serious
physical injuries.

Upon investigation, detectives with the Kentucky State Police determined the
injuries were caused by physical abuse.

The father of the child, Johnny R. Arnold lll, 19, of Benton, KY was arrested and
charged with Criminal Abuse 1st Degree, Victim Under 12 (Class C Felony).  Arnold
was lodged in the Marshall County Detention Center.

The child was flown to Kosair's Children's Hospital in Louisville, KY for further
treatment.

The investigation continues by Detective Brian Hill.

Marshall County Sheriff’s Report October 17th, 2016

On October 14th at approximately 10:25am, Deputy Steven Oakley was dispatched to KY 348 approximately 3 miles west of Benton in reference to a two vehicle crash. According to a report filed by Deputy Oakley, a vehicle driven by Craig A. Madden age 21 of Symsonia was eastbound on Ky 348. The vehicle left the right side of the roadway and over corrected. The vehicle crossed into the path of a vehicle driven by Lonnie N. Tynes age 63 of Benton. The vehicles struck and the Madden vehicle came to rest on the right shoulder. The Tynes vehicle came to rest in a grassy area off of the left shoulder. Tynes was transported by Marshall County EMS to Marshall County Hospital.

On October 15th at approximately 8:00pm, Deputies Josh Anderson and Chris Greenfield were dispatched to the area of Possum Trot in reference to a possible DUI / reckless driver. According to citations filed by Deputies,upon arrival, Deputies found several individuals who reported that they had gotten out of the car fearing bodily harm. As a result of the investigation the Deputies traveled to nearby Mt. Moriah road looking for the driver and located the driver identified as Heather Robinson age 31 of Benton at a residence there. The deputies were told by a neighbor that the car was nearby in a ditch and that Robinson was the driver. Deputies confronted Robinson who they report was very intoxicated and agitated. Robinson struck Deputy Anderson in the face and kicked him. She also kicked Deputy Greenfield. Deputy Anderson arrested Heather Robinson and charged her with the following:
DUI
Assault 3rd Degree – Police Officer
Resisting Arrest
Leaving the Scene of an Accident
When The Deputies had arrived at Robinson’s residence, a male had run out of the door and into the woods. Deputy Chris Greenfield found the male, identified as Joshua L. Robinson age 26 of Benton. Deputy Greenfield reports that the male Robinson was also manifestly under the influence. He was arrested and charged with Alcohol Intoxication and Fleeing or Evading Police ( on foot ). Both were lodged in the Marshall County Detention Center.

On October 16th at approximately 8:29pm, Sergeant Eddie McGuire received a tip that a drug deal was happening in the parking lot of Walmart. Sergeant McGuire, Deputy Chris Greenfield, and Officer Steve Robinson of the Benton Police Department responded and located the subjects and vehicles in the tip. Upon investigation, the driver of the vehicle gave permission for officers to search the vehicle. Officer Robinson noticed a small baggie sticking out between the windshield and hood near where the driver was standing. the bag contained clonazepam pills. Another clonazepam was found on the ground under the truck where the driver was standing. Willis D. Washburn age 56 of Benton was arrested and charged with Possession of Controlled Substance 3rd Degree and Tampering with Physical Evidence. He was lodged in the Marshall County Detention Center.

Calvert City Police Report October 17th, 2016

Rustin Gainey, 34, of 858 Paradise Road, Grand Rivers was arrested on October
14, 2016 by Officer Mike Canon for fleeing or evading police 2nd degree (on
foot), resisting arrest, and criminal mischief 3rd degree.  He was also served
a Livingston County warrant for  criminal trespassing 2nd degree, criminal
mischief 3rd degree, and fleeing or evading police 2nd degree (on foot); a
Livingston County warrant for fleeing or evading police 2nd degree (on foot)
and resisting arrest; and a parole violation warrant.  Officer Canon was
assisted by Marshall County Sheriff's Office Deputy Luke Rudd.

Alton B. Carter, 25, of an unknown address in Florida was arrested on October
15, 2016 by Officer Mike Canon for alcohol intoxication in a public place,
resisting arrest, and fleeing or evading police 2nd degree (on foot).

Morgan R. Brooks, 21, of 861 Riverview Drive, Ledbetter was arrested on October
15, 2016 by Officer Mike Canon for alcohol intoxication in a public place.

Lisa D. Berkley, 45, of 192 EM Hurley Lane, Calvert City was arrested on
October 16, 2016 by Officer Wes Babcock on a Marshall County warrant for
failure to appear.

Marshall County Sheriff’s Report October 24th, 2016

On Friday October 21st Deputy Chris Greenfield went to Small Ln to attempt to serve an arrest warrant on Michael W. Jones 37, of Hardin. Upon arrival Deputy Greenfield observed the subject moving in the house but would not answer the door. Additional units arrived to assist and entry was attempted into the house. The subject tried to go out the back door and then observed a deputy standing there and went back inside and hid in a room. Jones was placed into custody on his warrant and received additional charges of Fleeing or Evading Police 2nd Degree.

On Sunday October 23rd Deputy Josh Anderson was dispatched to Benton Birmingham Road in reference to a subject that possible violated an active Emergency Protective Order. Upon arrival Deputy Anderson spoke to the victim who stated that witnesses seen a Charles Wallace Sr. 49, of Benton, enter the property and retrieve something out of the garage and entered the residence. The EPO was verified through dispatch and that it had stated the Mr. Wallace remain within 500 ft of the property. Wallace was then located and arrested for Violation of a KY EPO/DVO.

Calvert City Police Report October 24th, 2016

Rodney B. Harrington, 40 Hawthorne Circle, Calvert City was arrested on October
20, 2016 by Officer Wes Babcock for alcohol intoxication in a public place.

Juveniles charged in vandalism of Benton Cemetery

On October 24th, Captain Hicks responded to the Benton Cemetery in reference to a vandalism complaint. Captain Hicks found 55 headstones that had been knocked over and damaged at the Benton Cemetery and the Strow Cemetery. Hicks spoke to Benton Fire Chief Harry Green who told him that someone had also broke in the fire department and stolen some items. Through investigation Captain Hicks was able to charge three juveniles with burglary 3rd, criminal mischief 3rd, and 55 counts of violating graves. The juveniles were charged and taken to McCracken County Juvenile Detention.

DUI collision involving Benton man closes Oaks Road

 On October 30, 2016 at approximately 5:01am, the McCracken County Sheriffs
Department responded to a single vehicle collision in the 1600 block of Oaks
Road.

    Upon arrival, deputies found that Mr. Jacob A. Duncan, 19 years old from Benton,
was operating a Blue 1993 Ford F-150 pickup truck northbound on Oaks Road. While
approaching the 1600 block of Oaks Road, Mr. Duncan fell asleep while driving
and lost control of his vehicle. The vehicle left the roadway on the east side,
striking a utility pole and becoming tangled in the power lines.

  Investigation showed that Mr. Duncan had been operating his vehicle under the
influence of alcohol at the time of the collision. Mr. Duncan was not injured as a
result of the collision and was arrested on multiple charges.

     The McCracken County Sheriffs Department was assisted on scene by Mercy
Regional EMS, Reidland Farley Fire Department, Paducah power systems and Lents
Towing and recovery.

      The 1600 block of Oaks Road remains was closed to traffic due to the investigation
and cleanup of the collision.

Charged: Mr. Jacob A. Duncan, 19 years of age from Benton.
Charges: Operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol, under 21
years old; Criminal Mischief, 1st degree; Person 18-20 Possess/purchase/attempt purchase/have another purchase alcohol.

Shane G. Buchanan, 38, of 2018 Benton Birmingham Road, Benton was arrested on October 27, 2016 by Officer Wes Babcock on two warrants:  a Lyon County warrant for theft of a legend drug 1st offense or value under $300 and theft by unlawful taking parts from a vehicle under $500, and a McCracken County warrant for theft by unlawful taking/shoplifting under $500.


Marshall County Sheriff’s Report November 1, 2016

On October 29th at approximately 6:07pm, Deputy Luke Rudd was dispatched to the area of Hardees and Fivestar in Draffenville. Deputy Rudd was dispatched in reference to a possibly intoxicated female. Deputy Rudd located the woman at Fivestar. He observed the female stumbling. His investigation resulted in the arrest of Shanrah D. Evans age 46 of Benton on the charge of Public Intoxication. She was lodged in the Marshall County Detention Center.

 

On October 28 at 11:11pm, Sergeant Jason Lane of two people broken down on an ATV and yelling on Hunter Road. Upon arrival, SGT Lane found the male standing in the road and the female sitting beside the ATV crying. It was reported that the male had been driving the ATV and that the female had fallen off. After investigation, the male, Joseph Moore age 25 of Arlington, KY was arrested and charged with DUI. The female was uninjured and released.

 

On October 30 at approximately 3:00pm, Deputy Chris Greenfield was dispatched to Dollar General in Aurora. They reported that a man identified as Jack Morgan age 54 of Hardin had taken items from the store the night before and was again in the store. Deputy Greenfield made contact with Morgan at his vehicle. Upon further investigation, Deputy Greenfield found a bottle of a drug identified as Cyclobenzaprine Hydrochloride in his vehicle in an unmarked bottle. Morgan was cited to appear in Marshall District Court next month and released.

 

On October 29th at 11:10pm, Deputy Chris Greenfield and Officer Steve Robinson were dispatched to Walmart in Benton in reference to a man trying lo leave without paying $80 cab fare for bringing him there. Deputy Greenfield observed the man walking away from the area, towards Wendy’s. The officers confronted the suspect identified as John M. Moore age 46 of Fancy Farm. As a result of the ensuing investigation Moore was arrested and charged with the following:
Possession of Controlled Substance 1st Degree – Meth
Possession of Controlled Substance 3rd Degree
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument
Theft of Services
Public Intoxication
The investigation revealed that Moore had tried to pay using an altered check from an account listed to someone else. Officers also found drugs and paraphernalia.
Moore was lodged in the Marshall County Detention Center.

 

On October 30th at approximately 7:00pm, Deputies Josh Anderson and Chris Greenfield responded to US 68 East in the Aurora area in reference to a disturbance. It was reported that a Kelvin Ham age 45 of Benton and a Tonya Estes age 47 of Benton had engaged in a disturbance with a neighbor and during the argument Ham is believed to have fired rounds from a handgun. There were children nearby when the weapon was fired. Officers charged Ham and Estes with Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree. Deputies Anderson and Greenfield were assisted by the Marshall County Special Response Team and a Trooper from the Kentucky State Police. Ham and Estes were lodged in the Marshall County Detention Center.

 

Early in the morning on October 31st, the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office received a call from an investigator with the Threat Management Office of the CIA. They wanted to make us aware that someone from Marshall County had e mailed them three times threatening to kill people by blowing up the courthouse and senior citizens center here in Marshall County. Judge Neal ordered the evacuation of the Marshall County Courthouse. The judicial building was also closed and evacuated as a safety measure. Officers from the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office and Benton Police Department responded to the county buildings as well as the senior citizens centers. A bomb dog and handler and a trooper from the Kentucky State Police responded to search the buildings threatened. Three detectives from the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office located the suspect at his home in Calvert City. After the ensuing investigation, Austin L. Ford age 27 of Calvert City was arrested and charged with Terroristic Threatening 1st Degree. After the bomb detection dog finished with sweeps of the threatened facilities, the Judicial Building and Courthouse were reopened to the public.

Marshall County Sheriff’s Report November 3rd, 2016

We have had a complaint of a paving scam working in the area. A truck with Minnesota tags stopped at a residence on Oak level Road. They offered to seal the driveway for $300. They sprayed some unknown substance on the driveway that was definitely not sealant. The phone numbers and contact information turned out to be untrue. Please be careful of doing business with businesses that show up at your home unsolicited.

On November 1 at approximately 9:40pm, Deputy Dennis Lewis responded to a disturbance on Starks Cemetery Road. Deputy Lewis spoke to Jonathan R. Cunningham age 19 of Hardin. Cunningham was standing in the road when officers arrived.Deputies found that he was extremely intoxicated. Deputy Lewis arrested Cunningham and charged him with Alcohol Intoxication. He was lodged in the Marshall County Detention Center. Deputy Lewis was assisted at the scene by Sheriff Kevin Byars and Deputy Jeff Daniel.

Benton couple arrested on drug charges in Paducah

Time: 8:35 p.m.
Date: Thursday, Nov. 3, 2016
Location: Motel on U.S. 60 (Hinkleville Road), Paducah
Suspects: Douglas O. Washburn, 40, and Rikirae Washburn, 38, both of Benton, both arrested on charges of first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance (more than two grams of methamphetamine) and possession of drug paraphernalia

A request for a welfare check led to the arrest of a Benton couple on drug charges Thursday night.

Police were called to a restaurant on U.S. 60 (Hinkleville Road) to check the welfare of an individual. Officer Will Gilbert’s investigation led him to a room at a nearby motel, where he found Douglas and Rikirae Washburn.

Gilbert said officers noticed several items consistent with drug activity on one of the beds and Gilbert requested to search the room.

Douglas Washburn consented, and Gilbert found 4.4 grams of methamphetamine, nearly $2,800 in cash and several items of drug paraphernalia.

The couple was arrested on charges of first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance (more than two grams of methamphetamine) and possession of drug paraphernalia and booked into McCracken County Regional Jail.

Marshall County Sheriff’s Report November 7th, 2016

On November 5th at approximately 1:07am, Deputy Josh Anderson was dispatched to the area of the 2100 block of Olive Creek Road in reference to someone screaming. Deputy Anderson made contact with Jimmy Nelson who reported having an altercation with Devon G. Collins, who had left the residence. Deputy Anderson found Collins laying in the yard and manifestly under the influence of alcohol. Collins was charged with Alcohol Intoxication and lodged in the Marshall County Detention Center.

On November 5th at 7:47pm, Deputy Luke Rudd was dispatched to a restaurant in Draffenville. The theft of a I Phone 6 was reported. The phone was found in the grass behind the business. A review of the video from the business revealed who had taken it there. As a result of the investigation, Kaitlynn N. Johnston age 18 of Calvert City was arrested and charged with Theft By Unlawful Taking Over $500 But Under $10,000.

On November 6th at 12:30am, Deputy Josh Anderson and Sergeant Jason Lane were dispatched to Moors Camp Highway in reference to a traffic crash. Upon Deputy Anderson’s arrival, he discovered a man sitting beside his crashed vehicle. Deputy Anderson could detect an odor of alcoholic beverages and the man had slurred speech. Beer was found in the passenger compartment of the vehicle. Aaron L. Griggs age 36 of Gilbertsville was arrested and charged with DUI 1st Offense. While officers were on the scene, a vehicle drove up with the wife of Griggs in it, looking for her husband. Investigation by Sergeant Lane determined that she also was intoxicated. Cherith A. Griggs age 36 of Gilbertsville was also arrested and charged with DUI 1st Offense. Both were lodged in the Marshall County Detention Center.

On November 5th, Deputy Chris Greenfield served a warrant charging Cody T. Driver age 31 of Benton with DUI. According to affidavit, the warrant stems from an investigation by Deputy Luke Rudd into a traffic crash on October 26th. His investigation revealed that Driver was intoxicated at the time of the crash. Driver was transported to Marshall County Hospital due to his injuries which is why the warrant was obtained.

On November 5th at approximately 7:00pm, Deputy Chris Greenfield and Sergeant Eddie McGuire investigated a crash on US 641 North. As a result of the investigation, Deputy Greenfield arrested Patricia F. Matheny age 58 of Benton and charged her with DUI, Poss Controlled Substance 1st Degree, Prescription / Controlled Substance Not in Proper Container, and Possession of Open Alcoholic Beverage in Motor Vehicle. Matheny was lodged in the Marshall County Detention Center.

Missouri Man Faces Charges in Three Counties after Pursuit Pursuit stretches through Graves, Marshall, and Calloway Counties

Mayfield, Ky. (November 7, 2016) On November 7, 2016, at approximately 2:20 P.M,
Units with the Graves County Sheriff's Office observed a motorcycle south bound on
KY-121 in Graves County traveling at a high rate of speed.  Graves County Sheriff's
Department initiated a pursuit that eventually led north bound on the Julian M.
Carol Purchase Parkway into Marshall County, KY were units from the Marshall County
Sherriff's Office and Benton PD joined the pursuit as the motorcycle exited off the
Purchase Parkway onto US 641 near Benton, KY.  The pursuit continued southbound on
US 641 and Kentucky State Police Troopers joined the pursuit near Hardin, KY.  The
pursuit continued south bound on US 641 into Calloway County and units from the
Calloway County Sheriff's Office then joined the pursuit.  As units neared the city
limits of Murray, KY the operator of the motorcycle was able to put some distance
between himself and pursuing units.

When the motorcycle entered the city limits of Murray, KY, several concerned
citizens and a Murray State University Police Officer observed the motorcycle pull
into the Chesnutt Hills Shopping Center.

The operator was then observed running inside the JC Penny Store located in the
shopping Center.  The operator was located in a dressing room inside the store and
was placed under arrest.

Jacob M. Dougherty, 21, of Crocker, Missouri was arrested by the Kentucky State
Police and charged in Marshall and Calloway Counties.  Additionally, Dougherty faces
charges out of Graves County by the Graves County Sheriff's Office.
Dougherty was charged with the following offenses:

Marshall County:  (KSP Carried Charges) Fleeing 1st Degree - Motor Vehicle (Class D
Felony), Speeding 26mph or greater (Violation), and Reckless Driving (Violation).

Calloway County:  (KSP Carried Charges) Fleeing 1st Degree - Motor Vehicle (Class D
Felony), Fleeing 2nd Degree - On Foot (Class A Misdemeanor), Wanton Endangerment 1st
degree (Class D Felony), Speeding 26mph or greater (Violation), and Reckless Driving
(Violation).

Graves County: (Graves County Sheriff's Office carried charges) Speeding 26 or More
Over the Limit (Violation), Improper Passing (Violation), Following Another Vehicle
Too Closely (Violation), Fleeing/Evading Police 1st Degree (Motor Vehicle) (Class D
Felony), Three Counts of Failure to or Improper Signal (Violation),  No Insurance
1st Offense (Class B Misdemeanor), No Registration Receipt (Violation), Wanton
Endangerment 1st Degree - Police Officer (Class D Felony), Several Counts of Wanton
Endangerment 1st Degree (Class D Felony)

Dougherty was lodged in the Calloway County Jail.

The Investigation is continuing by Tpr. Donald Bowman, Tpr. Mike Ray and the Graves
County Sheriff's Office.

Benton Police Department, Marshall County Sheriff's Office, Calloway County

Department all assisted in the investigation.

Throughout the month, Troopers from the Mayfield Kentucky State Police Post conducted traffic safety checkpoints in the Post 1 District. KSP utilizes traffic safety checkpoints to promote safety for motorists and to provide a deterrent for those who violate laws contained in the Kentucky Revised Statutes.

 

The intent of a traffic safety checkpoint is to provide a highly visible, public safety service focusing on vehicular equipment deficiencies, confirming appropriate registration and insurance of vehicles, and the valid licensing of drivers. Violations of law or other public safety issues that arise shall be addressed.

Through November 9, 2016, preliminary results show there have been fourty-one people killed on the roadways in the Post 1 District: Twelve victims were not wearing seatbelts. Six motorcycle fatalities have occurred.  Two victims were not wearing a helmet. Additionally six fatalities involved the suspected use of alcohol or drugs and two bicyclist and three pedestrians have been struck and killed.

Marshall County Sheriff’s Report November 14th, 2016

On November 13th, Deputy Chris Greenfield responded to a field off of Benton Birmingham Road in reference to a theft. Justin Wadsworth reported that someone had a taken a rifle and scope from his hunting blind. The investigation is continuing.

On November 12th at approximately 2:45pm, Deputy Chris Greenfield was dispatched to Moors Camp Highway in reference to a theft from a farm. Lona Dalton reports that someone took fence panels, cattle panels, gates, a hay spear attachment, and a bucket attachment from the farm. The value of items taken exceeds $5000. The investigation is continuing.

On November 10th, Captain Brett Edwards investigated a burglary on Hall Drive in Gilbertsville. According to the report, Robert J. Perrin reports that someone entered a shed and took gasoline, rods and reels, and sinkers. The value of the property taken was over $1000.

On November 9th Captain Brett Edwards was dispatched to the 9000 block of US 62 in reference to a burglary. Billy Sumner reports that someone entered the garage and took tools valued at approximately $6000. The case remains under investigation.

On November 13th at approximately 3:30pm, Deputy Chris Greenfield was dispatched to Benton Birmingham Road in reference to a person trespassing. The property manager reported that the person had been told by Officer Treadway of the Benton Police Department not to be back on the property. Deputy Greenfield confirmed that he had been trespassed from the property in July. Howard wayne N. Oakley age 48 of Hardin was charged with Criminal Trespass 3rd Degree and lodged in the Marshall County Detention Center.

On November 10th at approximately 9:30pm, Deputy Chris Greenfield responded to area of Phelps Road in reference to a possible intoxicated driver. Deputy Greenfield and Officer Nick Spears of the Benton Police Department located the truck off the roadway in a curve. The driver had walked from the vehicle back to his residence nearby. The subject admitted to driving and to drinking as well as striking mailboxes and street signs on Symsonia Highway. Thomas J. Jameson was transported to Marshall County Hospital to treat his injuries and then arrested and charged with DUI and Leaving the Scene of an Accident.

On November 10th, Sergeant Jason Lane responded to Bee Springs Road in reference to a suspicious vehicle. He located a vehicle with the driver slumped over the wheel Sergeant Lane was able to wake the driver and noticed slurred speech. The driver failed field sobriety testing. Nicholas J. Hopper age 23 of Benton was arrested and charged with DUI. He was lodged in the Marshall County Detention Center.

On November 9th, Deputy Jason Ivey responded to Benton Briensburg Road in reference to a vandalism complaint. Wanda Higgins reports that someone had broken windows in three vehicles on the property.

Calvert City Police Report November 14th, 2016

 Emily J. Gish, 35, of 564 East 10th Avenue, Calvert City was arrested on
November 03, 2016 by Officer Jeff Peck for alcohol intoxication in a public
place.


     Erin M. Gidcumb, 31, of 4115 Minnich Avenue, Paducah was arrested on November
04, 2016 by Officer Jeff Peck for alcohol intoxication in a public place.


     Justin K. Sharp, 33, of 256 Buckingham Boulevard, Gallatin, TN was arrested on
November 04, 2016 by Officer Jeff Peck for DUI 3rd offense, driving on a DUI
suspended license 1st offense, and failure of owner to maintain required
insurance 1st offense.


     Kade M. Brown, 18, of 587 South Main Street, Calvert City was arrested on
November 04, 2016 by Officer Wes Babcock on a Livingston County warrant for
burglary 3rd degree, criminal trespassing 2nd degree, criminal mischief 3rd
degree, and receiving stolen property under $10,000.


     Christian D. Williams, 23, of 531 Elder Street, Calvert City was arrested on
November 07, 2016 by Chief David Elliott for assault 3rd degree - police
officer or probation officer.

Marshall County Sheriff’s Report November 16th, 2016

On November 14th at approximately 11:09pm, Deputy Josh Anderson was dispatched to the 1600 area of Highway 95 in reference to a suspicious vehicle. Upon arrival, Deputy Anderson found an unoccupied vehicle in a driveway with music blaring. Further investigation revealed that the driver was inside the home. Joy D. Adrian age 39 of Paducah was arrested and charged with DUI after the investigation revealed that Adrian had driven the vehicle after taking controlled substances and was extremely intoxicated. Further investigation resulted in an additional charge of Wanton Endangerment after it was discovered that Adrian had driven there with a two year old child in the vehicle. Adrian was lodged in the Marshall County Detention Center. Deputy Cory Curtner assisted Deputy Anderson.

On November 14th Deputy Jason Ivey investigated an injury crash on I-24. A vehicle driven by Michael R. Pritchard of Farmington, KY was slowing and making a turn into a no turn around median crossing. A vehicle driven by Donald C. Pierce of Palmyra, MO. was forced to slow because of the turning vehicle. A vehicle driven by Michael Waksmonski age 53 of Wausau, WI was behind the Pierce vehicle and was followed by a vehicle driven by Charity K. Drescher age 36 of Marshfield, WI. Drescher was unable to stop, striking the Waksmonski vehicle in the rear causing that vehicle to strike the Pierce vehicle in the rear. Waksmonski was injured in the crash and was transported for medical care. Pritchard was cited for improper turn on limited access highway.

On November 15th at 7:56am, Deputy Steven Oakley investigated a three vehicle injury crash on US 68 at the intersection of Scale Road. According to his report, a vehicle driven by Christian T. Breeden age 17 of Paducah was eastbound on US 68. Vehicles driven by Mary J. Campbell age 57 of Paducah and Gina R. Hutchison age 32 of Benton were stopped to allow Hutchison to make a turn onto Scale Road. Breeden failed to stop and struck the Campbell vehicle in the rear causing Campbell then to strike Hutchison. The injured were transported by EMS and private vehicle to both Western Baptist and Lourdes Hospitals.

On Saturday November 19th Deputy Josh Anderson was dispatched to Native Circle in reference to an assault. Upon arrival, Deputy Anderson spoke to the victim who stated that the suspect had been kicked out of a bar in Paducah prior to his arrival. Once they both left the bar the suspect started hitting her on the head and in the face on the way home. The victim stated once they returned home she just went to bed but the suspect came to the bedroom and started punching her in the face and choking her. Jordan Zamora 22, of Benton, was arrested and charged with Assault 4th Degree Domestic Violence.

For the week of November 14th through November 21st the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office responded to the following:  22 Traffic Accidents, 16 Traffic Stops, 80 Extra Patrols, 6 Motorist Assists, 4 Animal Complaints, 1 Assault, 9 Burglary/Theft reports, 11 Disturbances, 5 Domestic Disturbances, 3 EPO’s, 7 Investigations, 3 Suspicious Drug Activity, 28 Have a Deputy Call, 6 Suspicious Person reports, 5 Suspicious Vehicle reports, 18 Warrants attempted, 20 Civils attempted and 8 Welfare Checks contributing to 360 calls responded to.

Calvert City Police Report November 28th, 2016

   Kara L. Alsup, 43, of 3125 Rider Trail South, # 205, Earth City, MO was
arrested on November 15, 2016 by Officer Jeff Peck on two Marshall County
warrants for failure to appear.


     Burton F. Stevens, 35, of 941 Cherrywood Street, Calvert City was arrested on
November 20, 2016 by Officer Josh Burkeen on a Marshall County warrant for
failure to appear.


     Tara R. Scott, 35, of 920 Cherrywood Street, Calvert City was served a Marshall
County criminal summons on November 26, 2016 by Officer Wes Babcock for theft
by deception - include cold checks under $500.


     Alexander L. Evans, 19, of 1053 East 5th Avenue, Calvert City was arrested on
November 26, 2016 by Officer Wes Babcock on a Marshall County warrant for
unlawful transaction with a minor 2nd degree and criminal possession of a
forged instrument 1st degree.

Marshall County Sheriff’s Report November 28th, 2016

On 11/28/2016 Cody A. Church, 26 year old male from Kevil, KY was arrested for burglary 3rd degree and criminal mischief 1st degree.  The charges stem from a burglary which occurred on 07/14/2015 at New Bethel Baptist Church.  The investigation was conducted by Detective Lieutenant Matt Hilbrecht.  The case was solved through DNA evidence which the defendant left at the crime scene.  According to the warrant affidavit, the defendant drank from a Welch’s grape juice bottle which the church used for communion.  Det. Lt. Hilbrecht swabbed the bottle for the presence of DNA.  The crime lab was able to match the DNA to the defendant.   

On November 24th at approximately 7:03pm, Deputy Chris Greenfield conducted a traffic stop of a suspected DUI driver on US 641 South. Deputy Greenfield’s investigation resulted in the arrest of the driver, Diego Lopez address unknown age 18 for DUI. Diego Lopez also produced false identification, giving officers a ” Permanent Resident of the USA ” ID. He also produced a false Social Security Card. Diego Lopez was charged with DUI, Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument, and No Operators License. The passenger in the vehicle, who identified himself as Lucas Lopez age 24, address unknown, was found to be in possession of Marijuana and was also arrested and lodged. Deputy Greenfield was assisted by Sergeant Jason Lane.
