Marshall County Sheriff’s Report for April 17th-24th

On April 22 at approximately 11:10 am, Captain Brett Edwards responded to the Kentucky Probation and Parole office in the Judicial Building. According to his report, Officer Brett Sorrells reported that someone had attempted to bring in and use a container of urine to falsify a drug test. Brandon M. Medcalf age 38 of Gilbertsville was charged with Tampering With Physical Evidence and lodged in the Marshall County Detention Center.

 

On April 25th at 1:40am, Deputy Josh Anderson was dispatched to Draffenville for a suspicious vehicle. Upon arrival he found a man passed out in the vehicle. After waking the man he exited the vehicle and had difficulty standing and walking. Deputy Anderson’s investigation resulted in Keaton G. Downing age 22 of Gilbertsville being charged with DUI, Trafficking in Marijuana less than 8oz, Drug Paraphernalia – Buy / Possess, Possession of Controlled Substance, and Prescription / Controlled Substance Not in Proper Container. Deputy Anderson recovered 14 grams of Marijuana, a digital scale, a grinder, rolling papers, $400 in 20 dollar bills, Xanax, and Vyvanse, Downing admitted to the Deputy selling marijuana and did not have a prescription for the pills.

 

On April 23rd at approximately 9:13pm, Deputy William Strader was dispatched to Lakeland Wesley Village in reference to a disturbance. Upon arrival, Deputy Strader found Jason A. Kalins age 31 of Benton causing a disturbance with his mother. Kalins had a strong odor of alcoholic beverages and was unsteady on his feet. Deputy Strader also reported that Kalins had slurred speech. Witnesses stated to Deputy Strader that Kalins had been drinking and causing a disturbance trying to get his keys for sometime. Kalins was arrested for Alcohol Intoxication in a Public Place and lodged in the Marshall County Detention Center.

 

On April 24th at approximately 12:50am, Deputy Josh Anderson observed a golf cart disregard the stop sign at Scarlett Drive and Cope Road. He attempted to stop the golf cart but it continued to a driveway on Cope Road. The golf cart stopped next to the garage on the property and the driver exited. Deputy Anderson observed that the driver was unsteady on his feet, slurred speech, and had blood shot eyes. Deputy Anderson’s investigation led to the driver, Jamie T. Blossom age 41 of Benton being charged with DUI, Operating ATV on Roadway, and Possession of Open Alcoholic Beverage in Motor Vehicle. Blossom was lodged in the Marshall County Detention Center.

 

A busy week for Marshall County Sheriff’s Deputies, responding to 345 incidents. This includes 11 traffic crashes, 4 with injury. Deputies also responded to 4 motorist assists, 2 DUI complaints, 5 Burglaries, 7 thefts, 10 disturbances / fights. 11 follow up investigations, 69 extra patrols, attempted service on 19 criminal and 39 civil process, and 18 traffic stops.
