Mayfield, Ky. (November 7, 2016) On November 7, 2016, at approximately 2:20 P.M, Units with the Graves County Sheriff's Office observed a motorcycle south bound on KY-121 in Graves County traveling at a high rate of speed. Graves County Sheriff's Department initiated a pursuit that eventually led north bound on the Julian M. Carol Purchase Parkway into Marshall County, KY were units from the Marshall County Sherriff's Office and Benton PD joined the pursuit as the motorcycle exited off the Purchase Parkway onto US 641 near Benton, KY. The pursuit continued southbound on US 641 and Kentucky State Police Troopers joined the pursuit near Hardin, KY. The pursuit continued south bound on US 641 into Calloway County and units from the Calloway County Sheriff's Office then joined the pursuit. As units neared the city limits of Murray, KY the operator of the motorcycle was able to put some distance between himself and pursuing units. When the motorcycle entered the city limits of Murray, KY, several concerned citizens and a Murray State University Police Officer observed the motorcycle pull into the Chesnutt Hills Shopping Center. The operator was then observed running inside the JC Penny Store located in the shopping Center. The operator was located in a dressing room inside the store and was placed under arrest. Jacob M. Dougherty, 21, of Crocker, Missouri was arrested by the Kentucky State Police and charged in Marshall and Calloway Counties. Additionally, Dougherty faces charges out of Graves County by the Graves County Sheriff's Office. Dougherty was charged with the following offenses: Marshall County: (KSP Carried Charges) Fleeing 1st Degree - Motor Vehicle (Class D Felony), Speeding 26mph or greater (Violation), and Reckless Driving (Violation). Calloway County: (KSP Carried Charges) Fleeing 1st Degree - Motor Vehicle (Class D Felony), Fleeing 2nd Degree - On Foot (Class A Misdemeanor), Wanton Endangerment 1st degree (Class D Felony), Speeding 26mph or greater (Violation), and Reckless Driving (Violation). Graves County: (Graves County Sheriff's Office carried charges) Speeding 26 or More Over the Limit (Violation), Improper Passing (Violation), Following Another Vehicle Too Closely (Violation), Fleeing/Evading Police 1st Degree (Motor Vehicle) (Class D Felony), Three Counts of Failure to or Improper Signal (Violation), No Insurance 1st Offense (Class B Misdemeanor), No Registration Receipt (Violation), Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree - Police Officer (Class D Felony), Several Counts of Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree (Class D Felony) Dougherty was lodged in the Calloway County Jail. The Investigation is continuing by Tpr. Donald Bowman, Tpr. Mike Ray and the Graves County Sheriff's Office. Kentucky State Police, Graves County Sheriff's Office, Mayfield Police Department, Benton Police Department, Marshall County Sheriff's Office, Calloway County Sheriff's Office, Murray Police Department, and the Murray State University Police Department all assisted in the investigation.
