On 11/28/2016 Cody A. Church, 26 year old male from Kevil, KY was arrested for burglary 3rd degree and criminal mischief 1st degree. The charges stem from a burglary which occurred on 07/14/2015 at New Bethel Baptist Church. The investigation was conducted by Detective Lieutenant Matt Hilbrecht. The case was solved through DNA evidence which the defendant left at the crime scene. According to the warrant affidavit, the defendant drank from a Welch’s grape juice bottle which the church used for communion. Det. Lt. Hilbrecht swabbed the bottle for the presence of DNA. The crime lab was able to match the DNA to the defendant.
On November 24th at approximately 7:03pm, Deputy Chris Greenfield conducted a traffic stop of a suspected DUI driver on US 641 South. Deputy Greenfield’s investigation resulted in the arrest of the driver, Diego Lopez address unknown age 18 for DUI. Diego Lopez also produced false identification, giving officers a ” Permanent Resident of the USA ” ID. He also produced a false Social Security Card. Diego Lopez was charged with DUI, Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument, and No Operators License. The passenger in the vehicle, who identified himself as Lucas Lopez age 24, address unknown, was found to be in possession of Marijuana and was also arrested and lodged. Deputy Greenfield was assisted by Sergeant Jason Lane.
