On December 28th at approximately 11:03pm, Deputies were dispatched to a residence on Symsonia Highway in reference to a disturbance involving gunshots. While on the scene officers found digital scales, small baggies, glass pipes, and 3.8 grams of suspected methamphetamine. Officers also found Alprazolam. Detective Nathan Maxlow arrested Blake E. Henson age 27 of Benton and charged him with Trafficking in Controlled Substance – Meth, Drug Paraphernalia – Buy / Poss, Possession of Controlled Substance 3rd Degree. Henson was lodged in the Marshall County Detention Center. A Marshall District warrant for Violation of Bond Conditions on the original charges of TBUT / Shoplifting, Tampering with Physical Evidence, and Public Intoxication was also served on Henson by Deputy Luke Rudd.
The investigation into this incident continued by Detective Sergeant Tim Reynolds, Detective Sergeant Kevin Mighell, Detective Nathan Maxlow and Deputy Luke Rudd. The investigation led to the service of a search warrant in Calvert City at the home of Matthew D. Jones age 24 of Calvert City. The investigation revealed that Jones and others had traveled to the residence on Symsonia Highway and had fired a weapon at Henson. Physical evidence confirmed that the rounds were fired. A weapon was recovered at the residence and Jones was charged with Murder ( Attempted ), Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He was lodged in the Marshall County Detention Center.
The investigation continued and at 5:56pm on the date after the incident another Marshall County male was charged. Miles G. Eble age 20 of Calvert City came to the Sheriff’s Office and spoke to Detective Sergeant Tim Reynolds. After this interview, Eble was charged with Murder ( Attempted ) and lodged in the Marshall County Detention Center. The investigation is continuing and further arrests or charges are possible.
On 12-27-16 at approximately 4:18pm, Deputy Cory Curtner began a foot chase in the area of 6th and Elm in Benton on a person for whom he had a warrant. When he caught the person, identified as Joseph M. McClelland age 20 of Benton, he found baggies containing suspected methamphetamine weighing 4.1 grams and scales. McClelland was charged with Fleeing or Evading Police, Trafficking in Controlled Substance 1st Methamphetamine, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
