Marshall County Sheriff’s Report January 9th, 2017

On January 6th at approximately 3:22pm, Deputy Chris Greenfield and Deputy Luke Rudd responded to Tom Prather Church Road in reference to a check on welfare. While at the scene they observed items of drug use and investigated further. As a result, Thomas Prather age 54 of Benton was charged with Possession of Controlled Substance 1st Degree – Cocaine, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Drug Paraphernalia – Deliver / Manufacture, and Possession of Marijuana. Prather was lodged in the Marshall County Detention Center. Prather was also served a warrant out of Graves County.

On January 8th at approximately 3:55am, Deputy Josh Anderson responded to north Main Street in reference to a disturbance. Sergeant Jason Lane and Officer Ryan Moore of the Benton Police Department also responded. According to a citation filed by Deputy Anderson, a female identified as Samantha Orman age 21 of Benton, was intoxicated and became upset, screaming profanities where she could be heard by neighbors. Orman was charged with Disorderly conduct 2nd Degree and lodged in the Marshall County Detention Center.

On January 8th at 11:28pm, Deputy Chris Greenfield responded to Tubbs Road in reference to a traffic crash. The vehicle was in a ditch and unoccupied. Deputy Greenfield’s investigation took him to a residence on Tubbs Road at which he located the driver, Brian Bruce age 47 of Benton. The investigation led to Bruce being arrested and charged with DUI, Failure to Register motor Vehicle, Failure to Maintain Insurance, Leaving Scene of Accident, Improper Registration Plate, and No Registration Plate.
Bruce was lodged in the Marshall County Detention Center. Greenfield was assisted by Deputy Josh Anderson and Sergeant Tim Reynolds.
