On January 25th at approximately 10:17am, Deputy Steven Oakley conducted a traffic stop on 8th Street in Benton. Observing pill bottles without labels, Deputy Oakley conducted an investigation that led to the arrest of Richard A. Jackson age 19 of Benton on the following charges:
Trafficking in Controlled Substance 2nd Degree, 1st Off.
Drug Paraphernalia – Buy / Poss
License to be in Possession
Failure to or Improper Signal
Improper Equipment
Obstructed Vision and / or Windshield
A Passenger in the vehicle, Jordan E. Tripp age 19 of Benton was also arrested and charged with Trafficking in Controlled Substance 2nd Degree, 1st Off and Drug Paraphernalia – Buy / Poss. Both were lodged in the Marshall County Detention Center. The contents of the bottles were identified as Methylphenidate Hydrochloride. The investigation is continuing.
