Det. Nathan Maxlow on Thursday, June 22 responded to a single vehicle crash on Mayfield Highway. As a result of the investigation, Justin L. Bearsby, 29 of Mayfield, was charged with aggravated DUI, second offense. Due to Bearsby receiving medical care he was cited to appear in Marshall District Court in July.
Deputy Steven Oakley was dispatched at 12:37 p.m. Thursday, June 22 to Interstate 24 in reference to an injury crash. According to his report, a vehicle was exiting from I-24 eastbound to Purchase Parkway southbound. The vehicle, driven by Samantha Sanders of Jackson, Miss., came around the curve in the construction zone, lost control and overcorrected. The vehicle struck the concrete barrier, left the roadway and overturned coming to rest on the roof. Five occupants of the vehicle, all of Jackson, Miss., were injured and taken by Marshall County EMS to Marshall County Hospital.
Deputy Steven Oakley was dispatched at 1:59 p.m. Thursday, June 22 to an injury crash on US 62 near Kentucky Dam. Traffic was stopped for another crash ahead when the driver reports looking away for a second and not realizing that traffic was stopped. A vehicle driven by Bruce W. Sitzes, 60, of Gilbertsville, struck a vehicle driven by Michael Scott, 53 of Charleston, Mo., in the rear. Sitzes was taken by Marshall County EMS to Marshall County Hospital.
