A Calvert City woman is facing charges after police say she stole an SUV and then tried to convince police the home she had entered without permission was hers.
According to the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department, deputies responded to calls Sunday, Aug. 6, that a Michelle N. Fondaw, 32, of Calvert City, had taken and was driving a Ford Bronco that she did not own and was possibly under the influence.
As deputies were speaking with initial callers to investigate the matter, police say another resident reported a burglary in progress on Darnell Road. Deputies responded to the break-in and allegedly discovered the missing vehicle at the home.
Upon further investigation, deputies found Fondaw inside the home and made contact. According to MCSD, Fondaw told deputies that she was the homeowner; however, the actual homeowner reported that she had not been invited and did not belong in the home.
Fondaw was arrested and charged on suspicion of second-degree burglary and theft by unlawful taking, auto $500 or more. She was taken to the Marshall County Detention Center.
